    headphone/mic jack to hd-audio plug-Does it exist?

    Greetings,

I own an Asus D2X audio card.  It is known that this card does not have an HD-Audio/AC-97 plug to connect front headphone/mic connector.  I was thinking I could circumvent this by plugging my headphone/mic stereo mini plug from the back of the sound card to the hd-audio/AC-97  plug inside the case so that I can use the front plugs.  does such a dongle/cable exist?  If not, any suggestions?  Thanks!

I found an option.  Somebody told me I could enable my onboard sound and use the front panels with that while using the Asus D2X for music.  Sure enough, it works!  Hooray!  Apparently there is even better support in windows 7 for dual sound cards. nice :)

somebody suggested I enable the onboard sound and use two soundcards.  Sure enough it works!  I use the onboard sound for mic nad headphone on the front panel and everything else i use the Asus D2X, nice!  Apparently Windows 7 has better support for dual sound cards.

Not really knowing what your 'everything else' is (that is what do you have hooked up to the D2X), but you should be aware that when using headphones, you are listening to your onboard audio, NOT your $200 D2X..    Using on-board audio input for mic is fine for things like skype or in-game chat, but I would look for a way to actually hook headphones to the D2X.  If you are using high-end PC speakers, those almost always have a headphone jack on the control pod.    If you are hooked to a HT receiver, I'd use the headphone jack on that.

That's exactly it.  I am using the front jacks for skype and chat and other things like that.  I realize the DAC in the D2X is the way to go for listening to music (one of the reasons I bought it).  It's just a pain to plug in the headphones in the back of my PC based on where I sit.  Thanks for the input.
