Microsoft confirms Zune HD coming this fall

    WOW, this is awesomeApplause

Quote---"Microsoft on Tuesday confirmed its plans to take on the iPod Touch with a new, touch-screen Zune that will be able to surf the Web, play high-definition movies, and tune in to digital radio.

The Zune HD, which will be available in the U.S. only starting this fall, features an HD Radio tuner as well as an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touch screen, Microsoft said. It is based on Windows CE and will use a version of Internet Explorer customized for its touch screen, Microsoft said."

I bet this Zune HD will beat iPod TouchGroovy  What do you think?

Looks okay but for me, iPod Touch is still better maybe it needs MS some time and efforts to design a better one.

It would be cool if the Zune HD gave the iPod Touch serious competition, but realistically it wont beat it out of the gate. Apple has been at this for about 2 years now and recently released an OS update (I still haven't upgraded, but meh). It's easy to speculate that MS will 1-up Apple with more features but I doubt MS will cram it full of extra features and raise the cost of construction when they can try to sell it for the same price or a little less than the iPod and compete by simply being an alternative to Apple. It's more likely to see a $379.99 Zune HD with 32gb flash memory, similar battery life, wi-fi, and a mobile app store than it is to see a $399.99 Zune HD with 32gb flash memory (maybe 64 by the time it launches?), similar or longer battery life, wi-fi, mobile app store, FM tuner, bluetooth, and whatever else you can imagine.

Re: Microsoft confirms Zune HD coming this fall

I'm new to music players... use Windows Media on a desktop PC, so am thinking an MP3 player would be better for me than an iPod?  Also, have been looking at the Zune and am wondering if it needs a "dock" or speakers and where to get that?  Also am needing a GPS and am wondering if there's a device that includes both a music player and GPS?
