    nikon software: automatic shooting

I'm looking for software that would allow my CoolPix L14 (outdated, I know) to automatically shoot photos every few seconds. I read an articel the other day about two MIT students who sent a balloon-mounted camera into the stratophere and want to try that; I just don't want to buy a new camera. Of course, I won't just be sending things up willy-nilly; I'll do tests at lower altitudes first. But I'm not sure if there's even such software available, and if there is I don't know where to find it. I found nothing like it on Nikon, and I'm not the best when it comes to googling obscure things.
