Most of them are on sale and have combos... Not to mention they're SATA.

What really bites is I just added a 24X Sony reader/burner, sold out when I hit the checkout button.

    Formatting huge hard drives
    It's Vista but better

The ASUS M4A78-E sucks, don't get it.

This seems to have been going on for a couple of months now. Just searched for SATAs. 21 listings. Stock on six. Only two less than $40+. Only one of those supports DVD-RAM.

    Wow.

Are "they" just trying to steer us to BD burners?!?

Re: all burners are out of stock...

I just came on here to post a thread about this same issue.

What's going on? I've been browsing the CD/DVD burner section of Newegg for about a month now looking for a new burner after my Samsung one crapped out (absolute POS, never again will I buy Samsung...)  and the selection of drives is SUPER low.

    Wonder what the problem is?

I'm just going to go to my local Walmart and pick a Blu-Ray 8X Burner for only $120.  Not too bad since the cheapest one [last time I checked] at that speed was near $200.

How did your Samsung c**p out? my big mistake was buying one retail for what i thought was a good deal but after about 6 or so months whenever the drive spun up it would make this nasty sound like scraping and then the drive could no longer read the discs it burned soon after but it could read discs from other dvd writers from before with no issue..

And then it would keep thinking I had no disc entered in but it would see a blank disc.

    I guess I got a bad drive.

Re: all burners are out of stock...

Oh, good, I thought it was just me.
Yeah, even on Amazon, Fry's, and whole bunch of other stores have very low stock or it seems like they're not going to restock at all.

    What IS going on??

I'm personally looking for an SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe.
