Trying to connect an Acer H233h to a HD Cable Box

I just bought an Acer H233h 23" LCD monitor and it runs beautifully, except when I try to connect it to my Comcast Cable box. The monitor keeps telling me that the HDMI cable is not connected when it is. Is there something I'm doing wrong? The cable box is a Scientific Atlantica Explorere 4250HDC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What HDMI modes does the box support? I would try to make sure it is set to 1080. You might also want to contact the company that makes the box see if there is a supported monitor list.
