Need help choosing the right starter Cam.

I want a camcorder for my career. Which is Director/Producer for TV shows and Video Advertisements. Which camcorder would you recommend to a beginner who never used a camcorder?

     I know I want is,

I really want HD and widescreen, between 720-1080p, a headset port (to listen to the sound playback to me while recording to make sure its good), mic port, and night vision would be very nice to have.

My price range would be $100-$400.

Also which book you would recommend to read about learning on cameras/camcorder insides and out in modern technology.

    Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 LGA 775 - eVGA 8800GTX 756MB - eVGA nforce 680i LGA 775 - CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 PC2 6400 - WD Raptor 74GB - X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 96KHz - Case: COOLER MASTER Stacker 830 Evolution - PSU 850W Thermaltake

Most people goto school for this.  They learn how to use cameras there or just playing with them.  Goto best buy and get a cheap camera and play with it till you are good and someone takes interest.  Then go blow a lot of money on a good camera.  TV, Video Advertisements will cost you more than a $400 camera.
