    External HD recommendation

I have a 3 year old Dell Dimension 3100 desktop PC which came configured with an 80GB HD and 512 memory, a DVD burner, no floppy drive and it has several USB ports.  I have some Quicken on this computer, many scans of documents, many word documents, all I'd like to back up.   What's a good external HD to buy to back my data up and what size should I buy for the minimum?

    Re: External HD recommendation

I am a western digital fan havent had any issues with their hard drives and have always recommended them to people. You done seem to need a lot of space so you dont need any thing big but you still want to have the room for future storage i would suggest

stylish and it gets the job done

WD also offers smaller hard drives that do not require a power cord it pulls the power from the USB port easy to use alot smaller easier to carry around. Now if you get the smaller one that pulls the power from the USB and you plug it into the front of a PC and it doenst come up try a USB port on he back of the PC it should work that way some older model PCs are not able to supply enough power to the front ports.

which ever you choose both are priced nice and if you want some thing larger like 500GB those are not that expensive ether really external hard drive are quiet cheap these days no matter what size. Hope that helps you out

Pvt. Frank 'Dim' Dumphy: [holding up a sign with Arabic writing on it] Do you think this squiggly **** really means "halt"?

Pvt. Avery "Angel" King: That's how it looks in the Sarges' phrasebook.

Pvt. Frank 'Dim' Dumphy: Yeah, but if we got one of the dots wrong it could mean "Sunnis suck" or something.

Pvt. Avery "Angel" King: As long as it don't say "Ram This" I'm cool.
