    Zero Touch Overclock by Vigor

    Zero Touch Overclock
    Vigor's Barebones Systems for Gamers

    Vigor ZTO

The new ZTO (Zero Touch Overclock) series of barebones kits from Vigor are aimed squarely at gamers who have PC-building experience, but may shy away from optimizing their hardware via overclocking.

Vigor has two kits available that include a motherboard, CPU, memory and a massive Gaming Monsoon III cooler. The pre-overclocked hardware offers performance that rivals much more expensive setups, but requires no additional tweaking out of the box.

    Benchmarks

Both kits are built on Intel's Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor, which is overclocked from the stock speed of 2.83GHz to a healthy 3.4GHz. The ZTO n78 kit uses a Zotac motherboard featuring an NVIDIA nForce 780i Northbridge, and the ZTO i45 kit features an ASUS motherboard and P45 Northbridge. Each barebones comes with 2GB (2x1GB) of Kingston DDR2 dual-channel memory clocked to 1066MHz.

The ZTO barebones kits offer a great price/performance medium, especially if you'll be porting over some hardware from an old system. You'll need a chassis (case & 550w minimum power supply), video card, hard drive and optical drive to complete your build -- and of course your necessary keyboard/mouse and monitor peripherals.

For more information and product specs, try the ZTO page on Vigor's website.

    Thanks for reading EggXperts!

    Be excellent to each other.

Looks interesting. I wish there were a few more choices, like a dual core model.

800+ all the other supplies. Its 800 for barebones right there . . . I think its kind of fun to overclock by yourself.

I just love their manipulation of data. The graphs are so incredibly off scale considering the differences between the two.

It is marketing material, what do you expect?

This is actually a pretty good deal considering that if something goes wrong with any one component, you only have to deal with one company and not 4 different ones. Also for those who don't want to mess with overclocking but still want greater performance. It could be a little cheaper but sometimes you have to pay to get more. At least its not like $1500.

It seems like if you have PC building experience it shouldn't take you long to figure out how to find the sweet spot between FSB/Voltages/Ram Clock/Heat/Stability etc.

For OverClocking , all anyone needs to know how the CPU and Memory functions.

  • Building your own PC.

    1) Determine Intel or AMD . 2) CPU use: Gaming/Apps/ Both:  3) Select CPU and MotherBoard (purchase mobo that has expandability and allows upgrading to a better CPU ).

    4) Memory that matches CPU's Bus Speed.  5) Graphics best support your needs.  6) Power Supply : 500W to 1000W ( in support of future requirements / expansion) .  1Kwatt is more than any one system could ever use. 850W suites me fine as not overkill.

    7) Tower/ Case that allows Expandabilty and Good Air Flow for Cooling and supports ATX or Extended ATX mobo.

    8) Stay within your Budget. Best item to spend most money on is the Motherboard then the other components.

    9) Important: Your PC or pre-built will depreciate in value after 30 days by 40%,  in 6 months 50%, 1 year 60%, then 10% each 6 months. So in 3 years it will be worthless.  Just like Automobiles not a great investment. This is why I stress Expandabilty and getting the Best Motherboard possible so you can get a extra year out of it. Stretch the value of your dollar. After 5 years PC is a Dinosaur.Whip

Re: Zero Touch Overclock by Vigor

OverClocking is easy via the BIOS. The critical thing is Not Over Voltaging the CPU or Memory.

There are several Forums relating to OCing such as the OverClockers Club.

1st thing you need to understand is how your CPU and Memory functions:

I recommend starting here by reading info from Hardware Secrets. As it will Help you understand What you are doing and Why.

It is very interesting but I will OC my rig and I do like tweaking BIOS Wink

It is the same concept as AMD overdrive. aha, OCers become lazier and lazier

I used one of their kits for a customer of mine as he requested it.  It was nice to just put it in and have a rock solid guaranteed overclock but I felt like it was a bit overpriced.  Plus I love tweaking the system myself.  Overall they are OK products.

Re: Zero Touch Overclock by Vigor

I haven't begun to over clock yet.  My graphics card is RMA at the moment, and when it returns, I'm going to OC.  However, I have much to learn.  This Zero Overclock seems like the Super Clock and Super Super Clock models I see getting released.  Having the manufacturer do the overclocking for you isn't really overclocking at all now is it?  As for the Dummy Over Clock...  what is that?

Had I read about Zero Overclock before I bought my components, I probably would have opted for it.
