I have been playing this game a long time. It looked like a city in a mountainous region and has a golf course and football feild, I guessed Rocky Mountains in Colorado or New Mexico from the terrain. Then I went to google and looked for cities in Colorado and cities in New Mexico and scanned the wikipedia lists until I came upon a city name that had something to do with your clue The answer jumped out, then I checked on Google Earth. Bingo, it took maybe 10 min.

Sorry, no. The Hagia Sofia was built around 530 AD as a cathedral and converted into a mosque when Constantinople was captured by the Turks in 1453. Good try though.

EDIT- Okay, it must be topkapi palace, which was in the movie topkapi, where they went to steal the emerald-encrusted dagger of Sultan Mehmed II from Topkapi Palace

I just crop the photo to not show them, because I usually do anyways to make it smaller, but you could also go to the view menu and un-check "status bar" - this will hide them.
