Hi,
I'm a CNC Programmer / Machinist for the last 12 years, and went to school for this stuff for 4 years before that.
I work with CADCAM systems to create alpha-numeric code, then run the programs on machines to fabricate Dies used in Probe Cards. Probe Cards are used to test all the micro chips you see on the market.
Its pretty cool, I get to see the names of new microchips, and help build the testers.. months and sometimes years in advance of them hitting the market.
Some of the dies we built went to test parts for AMD, Intel, ATI, Nvidia, Texas Instuments, Motorolla, Sony and many more.
We made the dies that tested the new ATI HD series, the AMD quad core cpus, the Sony PS3 cpu and many more. Working on some new Intel stuff now, and some new MB chipset stuff from ATI. Its all pretty interesting.
The more cores they add and the more advanced they make the chips just makes my job that much harder, lol..... The testers have to be made to test these crazy chips they come up with after all, lol
