Just started CoDWaW  PC online name is C00PS 

I have CoD Worlds but won't play it anymore. I was playing the single player game and it was a good play up until the russian game play - right after the sniper and urban missions. They went to far when they had the Russian either shot or let the German soldiers live. I am sure most people shot them beacuse it is just a game but still wrong. So, I went outside the barn, went to the fence (where all the russian soldiers were running) and started shoting them! At least, they weren't on the ground as POW's. Funny thing is that is actually lets you kill them. I stopped playing after that.

In all fairness aesman, 1) it's a game and 2) such is war; unruly, unfair, brutal and despicable. I play CoD:WaW on Xbox 360 under gamertag GflighTS; I beat the game on Veteran (wow I'd never do that again) and play multiplayer a lot :-).

I get the unruly and unfair aspects of war from a horrible army like the Red Army, but depicting the "war crime" in a graphical and controllable setting to people - people who could one day be in the American Army - retards the efforts dictated by the Rules of Warfare and the Geneva Convention. This kind of action shouldn't even be visible to impressionable minds (we all know they are playing). It should actually be looked down on and viewed as mentally ill act - but yet the player continues the game as a good guy. Even as a fictional reenactment, to shot a downed pow in-game is just not worth playing the game. It would be like playing as a Wehrmacht SS and deciding whether or not to flip the switch in the Jewish death chambers.

If I want to play a WWII FPS I will just go back DOD:S.

Good idea. I have seen some 0 achievement points in some games, where an achievement is unlocked but no gamer points were added.

Interesting discussion on gaming, maybe it should be its own topic...

When confronted with the choice of killing the German prisoners, I deferred, but they get killed anyway.  This game, rather than being an RPG with a floating morality scale like Fallout 3 where you get good or bad Karma, or Oblivion, where you have fame and infamy based on what moral choices you make, is more of an historical docudrama/shooter.

Russian soldiers did retaliate against German soldiers by executing them.  Japanese soldiers did torture Americans.  These scenes are difficult to watch, but the game is rated M and is pretty historically accurate.  Instead of doing what I would have done in real life, I tried to imagine what a soldier who lived through what your character lived through might have done.  He played dead while invading German soldiers methodically shot the wounded in his own country.

There is a scene from Saving Private Ryan where the translator geek shoots a German prisoner near the end of the movie.  You know its wrong, but you totally understand why he did it.

Funny the game let you shoot your own side.  You will usually get the message "friendly fire will not be tolerated" and you die. having to replay that part.

Yeah, I guess my problem has more to do with the fact that the player has the choice to kill them and it isn't just pre-mission video. Had a video of another soldier shot them prior to play then I would have understood the representation of the horror better.
