S3 IS.  I've had it for a few months now and I love it.  But I need to get a small point and shoot soon as the S3 is a bit big.  A DSLR would be nice but it would not fit my lifestyle.

I have been using a Nikon D50 for the past year and a half and it is great. I'm definitely gonna be sticking with Nikon DSLR's for a long time. I bought the kit that came with the 18-55mm lens and bought a 70-300mm lens as well for long shots.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

    1. Pentax Optio555 - Digital Point and Shoot, but with a lot of manual control if you want it.  Bought it about 3 months after it was released and still love it.  My wife used it in her Digital Photography classes and impressed the professor with the quality of picture she got compared to the other students (it was about a year old at that time).
    2. Canon Rebel XT - (film) Wife's second SLR (her first Rebel was stolen along with 3 or 4 rolls of undeveloped family pictures:( )
    3. Canon Digital Rebel XT - Bought it for my wife because she wanted a DSLR and she already had lenses 28-80mm, 70-300mm/macro, and 2x extender (and UV filters) that fit it.  It's been a great camera even for a novice SLR user (me).

Although I will always hate the slow speed at which my Olympus C-4040 saves images onto the so-called SmartMedia cards, I do get an occasional nice picture with it's 4.1 MP CCD.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

My Canon A300 provided me with many years of service but when my son got a hold of it that was the end of that. It was only $150 when I got it a few years ago and now I can buy a 7.1MP Canon A550 for roughly the same price.

I love Canon products! Not just cameras, their printers are excellent hardware too.

I plan on getting the All-In-One PIXMA MP530 as well.

    Rock on Canon!

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

I'm currently using a Canon EOS Rebel T2. I love 35mm, I wanted to go DSLR just so I could play with my pictures on CS2. But instead of buying a new $900 DSLR with the same quality as my 35mm T2, I bought a canoscan 600f from the egg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838111011

It scans negatives beautifully and now I have no need for a DSLR at least not for a couple more years. Big Smile

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

I'm looking into either the rebel xt or the S3 IS.  How is your rebel xt.  I know you said you love it, but size is one of my main concerns.  Is it a hassle?  Would it just be annoying to bring to social occasions where your walking alot (I don't want a tacky camera bag Stick out tongue).  Also how is the picture quality without a tripod?  Just standing and shooting in moderatly low light conditions, is there any motion blurring?  I know that the S3 has the image stabilization, DSLR is dependent on lenses.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

I have a Panasonic FZ-50 and a Panasonic FX-01 They both have Leica glass and take nice photos. The FZ-50 has a 12x optical zoom (36-400mm 35mm equiv.) and the FX-01 is a tiny little thing that has a 3.6 optical zoom and is always with me. I bought the FZ-50 from Panasonic Direct with a corporate discount. That was a big mistake. Dealing with Panasonic direct was a problem and I could have bought the camera from Newegg for just a few dollars more. The FX-01 I bought from Newegg... A pleasure as always...

It's a little big for social occasions: I wouldn't bring it to a party. It's not bad for walking since most likely you'll have a strap for it. It's pretty good without a tripod, but you really don't want to take any pictures in low light without one. The shutter stays open longer, letting in more light, so the more you shake the more it'll blur. But I love the Rebel XT; it's great. Amazing picture quality and I love how I can take three shots a second (that depends on if the camera is changing settings). It's good both on the manual settings and the automatic settings: those really depend on your preferences.
