7 miles to the east of me they have road runner, but because of county tax laws they will not cross the county line.

The closest High speed in any other direction is 22 miles......but that is in another county as well.......closest one in my county is 25 miles away.   And there is nothing between my house and that area...........My phone company said they estimate DSL to be available to me in 12 years.(AT&T)

The closest satellite installer is a 3 1/2 hour drive so I can't get that either, they won't drive out here to do it.

Haha, you get used to it.

I do tend to go to Circuit City and download stuff.................They have an open Wifi that lets anyone on..........With my wireless-N card I can do it halfway across the parking lot.

Yea I got a cheep little HP/Compac for my G/F to use a while back.  I just plug it in the car, start the download(s) and go shopping for awhile.

Comes in handy when I have driver updates and such, @ home I can only download 5MB in an hour.

5MB per hour?! That's... very... slow.

 I say just buy a couple of kilometres of wire and just hook it up to theirs =P.
 

Haha, If I thought I could get away with climbing that many telephone poles I would.

When XP's SP2 came out.......... the Update disk got here before the download was 60% done.
