Newegg was great and I am buying from them again:)
Why? 1 acronym: UPS
I bought a new computer. One package had all my parts in it, the other was my case.
The first package got to my place on time, but the driver decided to leave it on the doorstep right out in the open, for anyone to steal and when it was threatening to rain. It's a freaking miracle it never got stolen and/or wrecked.
When it comes to the second package, well it didn't arrvie at all! I filled a claim and hopefully I can get a case in less than 3 weeks (doubt it). So right now I have my computer running on top of random boxes all strewn about on my desk.
This is the first time I have ever shipped with UPS, and it is definitely the last time I ever ship with UPS. I'll never order from newegg.ca again either until they allow me to ship with Canada Post or another carrier that isn't utterly retarded.
EDIT: Newegg just called me up and refunded me the shipping cost because of the hassle I had with UPS. That is amazing customer service, from Newegg. I can definitely see myself ordering from Newegg.ca again. Even if I have to go through UPS again, knowing how helpful customer service is I know if anything does happen I won't get the shaft like you can from so many other companies.
Thank you Newegg, you are great. :)

UPS is the only option as of right now. Also ya, I understand that the items are coming from the states but when someone operates a Canadian site, they should offer Canadian shipping options to go along with it, in my opinion. Not my problem though, its their loss of business if they only stick with UPS and don't work out the technicalities to allow other carriers.

I definitely agree that Newegg should provide more shipping options, especially those most related to Canada customers. Currently, we definitely have acknowledged that we will need more options, and there will be some to come in the near future. So rest assured there is hope :-)

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying for them ag
Yes, while UPS is indeed, shody, along the lines of shady, and somewhat wreckless - this has been generally known for sometime - especially to those who do occassional or more frequent online shopping. In regards to them leaving things out in the rain - nothing new here; but I'm sure if a package was destroyed due to UPS's neglegence - I highly doubt that newegg would stand by and say 'bite me'; and even if by chance this ever happened, I encourage both the original poster, and others to contact newegg via email or through (here) the forums - with some form of order information. With how shody UPS generally is, it might be a good idea to request that package(s) be left at the closest depot or somewhere where someone is present at the 'front door' 24/7 - those UPS guys tend to run off real fast after ringing the bell.

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying for them ag
Hi MechBFP,
Thanks for letting us know of this problem, I did check your account and your tracking numbers, and I've sent an additional email to our Customer Service department to see if we can do anything further to make amends for the shipping error.
I'll continue to monitor this situation and do anything I can to help; we definitely appreciate your business, and as posted by Jas0n, we're looking to expand our shipping options to provide additional choices for Newegg.ca shoppers.
Kindest Regards, Paul
Be excellent to each other.

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying from them again
MechBFP - I absolutely agree with you and others that more delivery choices are needed in Canada. UPS is fine in the US, because the US has a lot more customers and bigger population, but UPS is not as big in Canada. IMO Canada Post is a better method of delivery.I've never had a problem with them for Xpress post or any other method of delivery. They are probably cheaper too. Newegg is new in Canada and looks like more market research could have been done in issues such as delivery options. Also, the FAQ's on the newegg.ca website don't give any info about shipping costs. MechBFP, did you have to pay any Canada Customs duty or taxes cor your computer since the shipment originates in the US and shipments from the US by UPS, usually involve extra costs.
MechBFP - How much did UPS charge for delivery? does it depend on size of package? I tried to find out some info from Newegg Customer service but the rep didn't know . It seems like they were not prepared for questions re Newegg Canada opening. I tried to find out if Newegg have a distribution centre in Canada like Amazon.CA which means items are shipped to Canada, but a distribution centre mails them to Canadian customers rather than waiting for item to cross the border .Sorry you had a bad experience MechBFP, but I'm sure Newegg did not expect this to happen and will try to make amends. Having more delivery choices such as Canada Post, would be better. Maybe UPS is not the best.
This forum is a great idea for Canadians so they can find out experiences and information from people who have dealt with Newegg canada and find out their experiences good and bad.

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying from them again
The shipping was actually pretty good. $60 CDN for 42 pounds worth of shipping. Anitiec.ca wanted 90 for way less distance. Also no duty or anything. The only cost I had to pay was the straight up bill from Newegg, thats it. No additional costs at all.
The shipping increases by weight/items, depending on size and what not. A single item shipping is $15 or so. EDIT: Also, UPS finally got around to shipping my case too, AND the driver didn't leave it at my front door this time. (Gonna get it shipped to my work tomorrow instead cause I'll actually be there). Hopefully my complaints weren't the only reason I actually got my case in a reasonable timeframe and with much better service.

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying from them again
Hi MechBFP -Glad you got everything fixed up. Yes, I guess $60.00 is what you have to pay for heavy items. I guess it depends on the weight and maybe the value of item. I never get stuff delivered with couriers. I always use USPS/Canada Post when I order from Amazon.com (US site) or any other company in the US but thats becaue of high brokers fees. Thats why I asked if you had to pay 13% tax, plus $25.00 or whatever for brokers fee. You don't have to pay brokers fees when you use USPS/Canada Post.I've heard of the dreaded brokers fees through the years and I am still not sure if Newegg involves brokers fees in their total. I'll need to know that information before I order anything from Newegg. I don't like bad surprises. I'm glad you complained. Its the only way to get better service, and as I said before, Newegg is new in Canada, and want people to be satisfied. Their business is based on good service. Good luck with the computer.

Re: Newegg was great, but never buying from them again
If the broker fees where included in the shipping costs, I don't know, but they may have been. All I know is I pay only what the bill from Newegg said and nothing more, so you don't get any nasty surpises. But I do know that I only had to pat 5% tax (I live in Saskatchewan) Newegg has a nice chart that lets you know how much tax you pay per province.

Re: Newegg was great and I am buying from them again:)
It scares me to death whenever I come home to see my package on my doorstep, in clear view of any would-be thief. I wish they would at least hide it or something and leave a note to let me know of its whereabouts lol

Re: Newegg was great and I am buying from them again:)
I'm in a high rise condo and UPS won't leave packages at my apt. door. Can't blame them as anybody could walk by though I know everybody nearby and they are honest, but courier doesn't know that. They leave a card in the lobby if I'm not home but I have to look in a certain place to see it, so have to look out for them. I'm in a big city and I've only had UPS or any courier deliver to me a few times in my life and it was from a company. A few companies use UPS to deliver to individuals but UPS is used a lot more by business companies from what I see. Lots of UPS trucks downtown in business district where I used to work, but don't see many in my area. The U.S. use couriers a lot more than Canada. Most people I know get packages sent via USPS/Canada Post if from other countries, incl. U.S. Postman buzzes me. If I'm not home leaves me a card and I get package next day at local post office.Very handy and secure. I'm getting package from Amazon.com (US site) this week and it is sent by USPS/Canada Post, but Amazon.com has a warehouse in Canada so packages are mailed from there. If Newegg had that setup, would be good.

It's unfortunate though that UPS personnel come from the same intellectual stock, or lack there of, on both sides of the border!
