    Newegg Canada Shipping Survey

    Hello Canadian Eggxperts!

We've been listening and shortly we be creating an official survey on Newegg.ca asking for your feedback on shipping carriers.

In meantime, feedback would be greatly appreciated here on EggXpert!

Tell us how you would rank the following shipping carriers, and why!

    a. Canada Post
    b. DHL
    c. Fed-Ex
    d. Purolator
    e. UPS

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

    Thanks for hearing the feedback!

    My take:

    1. Fed-Ex - Fair prices, pretty good shipping times both within Canada and internationally. Usually my number 1 choice.
    2. Purolator - Same as Fed-Ex. The few times I've used them they've been good, a little more expensive though.
    3. UPS - Not always the cheapest, but I haven't had a single damaged package from UPS after at least 100 times using them now, and I've only had  two of those be delayed (because of customs and weather). Great tracking system. Sucky brokerage fees, but NE.ca has already taken care of that. No 'slower but cheap' service offered AFAIK in Canada yet that we could use for small or low priority shipments, so I would only use them for bigger shipments. Also, I've never used their express shipping, the other companies' express methods are always just as fast and cheaper.
    4. Canada Post - Decent shipping times within Canada. From US, fairly slow (1-2 weeks). Price is usually good. Only thing that really stops me from using them from ordering cross border is their tracking SUCKS since USPS and them can't cooperate - I always lose tracking when it crosses the border. Still a great option for small items though, especially since Canada Post can put things like that in your mailbox.
    5. DHL - Never used - no comment.

Edit: put them in order now, missed the 'rank' part.

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

Choices would be in the following order: 1. FedEx (never had a late shipment or unable to track shipments) 2. Purolator (however have had problems with shipments being late Winnipeg Depot.. tracking system shows out for delivery when it is not) 3. UPS (ok if within Canada) 4. Canada Post (tracking system is useless) 5. DHL never used them

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

Well im glad to see your trying to fix the shipping problem :D now just a price match would be nice lol.

    1) Fed-ex - Fast and there prices are usually always lowest for the shipping time. And they usually arnt hard on your packages (UPS....... lol)

    2) Canada Post - For my small packages, nothing beats Canada post. There slow but there fair price wise, and everything fits in my mailbox :D no worrying if the shipping guy is an i***t and is gunna leave my package outside O.O

    3) Purolator - Never used them personally, but people i know have. Good shipping times from what I have been told, and usually in the ball park for shipping, but i would choose fedex over them oviously...

    4) DHL - Never used them..... but hell, i bet there better than ups lol

    5) UPS - I avoid using them at all costs, I have had so many problems with this company its not evening funny. Really is the only reason I dont shop here atm (I loved that eggshocker too :()

Thanks for taking our feedback :D

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

    1. Canada Post (cheapest) (for some items cheap is good)

    2. Pulorator (mostly orders from Dell) Resonably good

    3. UPS (Fees on border (not applicable here) and more expensive then Canada Post)

    Never used Fed-Ex and DHL

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

    1) Canada Post: Absolute preferred method. Never had a problem with them.

    2) DHL: Have had experiance with them before and from what I have seen the drivers are quite professional, so they are second.

    3) FedEx: Have never used them, but haven't heard many horror stories either. Netural on this.

    4) Purolator: The drivers I have seen didn't seem to care at all about their job, much less the packages, so I wouldn't trust them.

     99) UPS: ....no.... nuff said.

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

I have used Canada Post with USPS many times when not in a rush, and is the cheapest usually.

Shipping charges are an issue with me, I don't like paying them, so I don't mind waiting if I get free shipping or discounted shipping.

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

Just a side note, I wouldn't bother ordering anything next day as it almost never shows up then and its way too expensive. I usually go with the cheapest shipping because it all seems to show up in the same amount of time. Ordering anything with 3 to 5 days shipping usually ends up being 10 to 14 days if its coming over the boarder.

    1. Canada Post/US Post. Dealt with both a lot. Shipping can be fast (had a video card sent from BC to NS in under 12 hours). Shipping prices are pretty good too. I just got some cables that were able to fit in a bubble envelope from California. Cost for shipping was around 2 bucks, if you add in the cost of the envelope then shipping was around 3 bucks at most, took a week to get it. Never had to pay "brokerage fees" using them.

     2. Fed-Ex. I have only ordered one though with Fed-Ex from the states and it showed up the next week. From what I have seen they have pretty good shipping costs on larger items, not the greatest for small items. Never had to pay "brokerage fees" using them.

    3. Purolator. Not too bad for shipping costs on larger items, bad for small items though, shipping times about the same if coming over the boarder. But I believe they work with UPS when shipping things over the boarder. Been hit with brokerage fees when ordered stuff UPS but it shows up Purolator.

    4. DHL. Never used them, know a few people that have and they say they are comparable to most other shippers. Even though I have never used them, I still rank them better then UPS.

    5. Pretty much any other shipper out there other then UPS.

    6. UPS. I try to avoid at all costs. Every time I have ordered something from the US and had to ship it via UPS I was hit with a 20 to 40 dollar brokerage free. I was sent a free computer case, I got hit with 30 dollar brokerage fee. I RMAed a 20 dollar PSU, got hit with a 22 dollar brokerage fee. Was sent an old video card for a friend along with a couple of other small items, got hit with a 15 dollar brokerage fee.

All those brokerage fees were AFTER the people paid 20+ bucks for shipping for small items (the case being an exception).

If at first you don't succeed, erase every ones memories and try again.

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

Canada Post is good, I've ordered many things from the US and had EMS shipping.  WIth EMS, USPS delivers it to Canada and then Canada Post takes over and delivers it to me.  It's quick, affordable and reliable.

Fedex is pretty good as well.  Fedex Ground would be a good choice to use for heavy items costing $500 or less.  It's cheap and relatively speedy.  I've ordered an amplifier before from all the way down in Texas and it came up all the way to Toronto in 6 days.  I say $500 or less because I believe Fedex Ground only covers up to $500.

Fortunately, I've never had any major problems with UPS.  The only problem that I did have with them is that the drivers will sometimes miss the delivery date and make up excuses.  I would be expecting a package on a certain day, but I never receive it, I check the online tracking and it'll say something like "receiver didn't have funds" or "receiver wasn't home".

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

Canada Post: preferred shipping method, low price excellent service, friendly people. i will only buy from retailers who offer this.

    Pulorator: good service,price

UPS: absolutly hate this company, shipping price cost the most and have to pay duty/levie extra

    Fed-Ex: same as purolator

    DHL : never tried

Re: $15 off of $15 Promo Code

I drove a delivery van for UPS about 20 years ago and I know they ran a very tight ship back then and I imagine they still do. The loaders seemed to take care while loading the packages instead of just throwing them in there. Every day I went to my van the packages were all very well organized by address of first delivery front to back. If there were more deliveries than usual to make like around Christmas time, then they would hire part time drivers to take some of the load off and get the packages there on time.

I also drove for Fed-Ex "Ground" for a few years pulling trailers. It seems like there was always a rush going on at the terminals and the trailers were being loaded with high anxiety it seemed when I would hear boxes hitting the side of the trailer, and all the drivers were contracters rather than company employees. Fed-Ex "Express" may be a whole different ball game though since they were originally a different company than the old RPS which became Fed-Ex Ground.

You might want to delete expired promo codes from the forum.

    Re: Newegg Canada Shipping Survey

From best to worst (for Vancouver):

    1. Purolator - does one attempt but leaves it at a local mall (5 min walk) 100% of the time.  I mostly ship through them.

    2. Canada post - does 3 delivery attempts and leaves it at a local mall (5 min walk).  However, intl packages are sent to a strip mall which takes.  Since mailbox is tiny, only a fan or some cables could fit.

    3.  FedEx - only used once, but was decent.  Pickup located within 30 min walk/15 min bus.

    4.   DHL - never used, but is certainly better than UPS.

    5.  UPS - fakes delivery attempts and claim nobody was home.  Pickup location at AIRPORT which is a 40 min drive during rush hour.  I just didn't bother picking up one shipment and let it go back.  Wouldn't ship through them unless they had some major incentive.

    Re: Newegg Canada Shipping Survey

Have really only dealt with Canada Post as I like to be on the cheap and usually that option is the cheapest. Only issue I have with them is in the actual delivery people. They never knock and just leave the ticket on the door handle. Quite an irritant since it wastes a day as they do not get the parcels back to the outlet for hours.

I did use UPS once - I think. Though only because it was a promotional deal. It was supposed to be an expedited or rushed service deal, but it took as long as Canada Post was in their normal delivery.

DHL was used when I was shipped a Beta CD for a SOCOM game a few years back. No issues there, though I didn't really deal with them myself as they just left the package there. So nothing really to discuss about them for me.

As for UPS and Canada Post, both of their tracking systems were/are off by quite a bit. In one case everything but the parcel originating out from the source was updated AFTER I got the parcel.
