    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

    I could get the entire top worked out with the exception of Y->U and D->C, which, ironically, have each other's answer.  Is there a possibility that this is somehow an err, on either of our parts?  (Just checking)

    It's a red X...  But it's a lovely red X...  ?

    Just checked for you - nothing wrong with the puzzle!

    Alphabetical or fill in the missing letters... The first implies alphabetical, but I think missing letters makes more sense.

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

    Red = +6
    Orange = +2
    Yellow = -1
    Green = -1
    Blue = -5
    Purple = -2

    For some reason (and hopefully not coincidence, but I can see no other alternative since the picture is not incorrect), these values work as mathematical problems to change one character to the following character at the top, if followed like a math problem.  The only two letter conversion problems it doesn't work for are Y>U and D>C.  They should be -4 and -1, and they come up, using these values, as -1 and -4 (opposites).

    That's all I have so far - I've been too busy working to come up with any more than that (and that's why I asked the question yesterday).

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

    I started out close, got further away, but I think I have it now...

    OG: Reading Rainbow

    I assumed each color had to be a mathematical process, I just hoped it was a simple thing (and it was).  I started with rows 5, 7, and 8... you can see that YBG = -7, OBG = -1, and RBG = 0. From that you can see that red = orange+1 = yellow+7, and using substitution and some trial and error I ended up with the actual values.

    R = 5
    O = 4
    G = 1
    Y = -2
    V = -3
    B = -6

    H+5 E+4 U-2 S+1 K-6 U-3

    MISTER

    W+5 Q+4 T-2 S+1 U-6 Q-3 N+5

    BURTONS

    H+4 K-2 S+1 K-6 U-3 V+5 P+4 G-2

    LITERATE

    R+1 V-6 H-3 X+5 P+4 T-2 T+1 S-6

    SPECTRUM

    I really wasn't sure what this could mean... "Burton" and "spectrum" made me guess it could be Star Trek, so I googled Levar Burton's character and saw something about the electromagnetic spectrum. That wasn't it, so I looked for authors named Burton... the only famous one seems to be Robert Burton, who wrote a book about depression back in the 1600s... and that wasn't it. I was thinking it could be some other kind of visible spectrum related to Star Trek again, then I got hit by a wall of obviousness - Reading Rainbow... nice touch with the rainbow colored clues, too.

    Way to go!  Without any clues even!  You, sir, may choose five spaces from the Prize Box!

    Well guys, for the time being, I'm all out of puzzles again...  I'll try to put some things together soon, but it may be a few weeks.  I'm chilling out at home this weekend, but my senior design project is taking alot of my time (not to mention my digital signal processing and digital IC design classes).  A week after that is spring break for me, and I'll be in VEGAS!!

    So yeah...  Things may be dry around here for awhile again...

    woo! I think I got kind of lucky, checking this thread shortly after a new puzzle is posted, and it happens to be one without multiple places where I have to stop and think "I can't even begin to imagine where to go from here".

    I would like 60, 70, 80, 90, and 11 please.

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

    Okay guys, let's try something new...  I'm looking to YOU for puzzle ideas!  Starting now, if you think you've got a good idea for a puzzle, email it to me (address below).  I'll take descriptions, pictures, videos, sounds, whatever you want to give me.  I'm headed to Vegas tomorrow evening for spring break (W00T!!), and I'll return next Friday, so that'll be the deadline for submissions.

    I'll use the best idea I receive for the next puzzle.  The puzzle maker obviously won't be able to play for that puzzle, but as a reward, they'll get 3 spaces from the Prize Box!  If your submission doesn't get used as the next puzzle, but I use it as inspiration for a future puzzle, I'll give you 1 space from the Prize Box!

    Obviously, the more information you provide me with (graphics, possible clues, "storylines", etc.) the better your chances of winning.  Title the subject of your email "EggXpert Prize Box Idea - #USER#", where #USER# is your screen name (mine would be cg49me), and send it to me at cg49me@hotmail.com.  If you do send attachments, try and compress them as much as possible (jpg's, mp3's, avi's, zip's, rar's, etc.).  Zip files are my absolute fav, so if you could dump all your stuff into one of those, I'd appreciate it.

    Good luck - rack those brains!

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

    I think I might just try this.

    Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers
    grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the
    fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own
    image as promised by the
    sacred words, and spoke
    of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was
    naught but a follower.
