Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Q6600 @ 3.2GHz on air, system in sig. Vcore is 1.325 in bios, 1.28v from CPUz. Idles about 2C above ambient, CPU temp runs between 44C and 48C under full load, kicking the CPU cooler fan from 900rpm to 1800rpm. elconejito - I hadn't read anything about a 360-400 multiplier "hump" with Asus boards, but all the OC'ing I've done supports that. My P5E & Q6600 will go at least to 3.4GHz (haven't tried beyond), but I have to really push the Vcore. I also have a couple Asus P5W DH boards, one with a Q6600 and one with an E6600 - neither setup likes to go >3.2GHz.

I've seen it in several places, nothing "official", just posts on forums and the like. I've been to all the major ones while I was researching "how-to overclock" (this was my second OC) and then when i got stuck and couldn't go any further. This was all a while ago, and I don't remember if the blame was Asus, the chipset (P965), or some other combination. But apparently if you go over that hump then it runs like a champ. I haven't had the time to fiddle with it anymore but I suppose the next thing to try would be try a 400+ FSB and maybe lower the multiplier to keep the CPU speed reasonable.

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
ok, this is going to be funny but it was 1.8-1.9v, i know its a lot but i have a good cooler and my temps never went above 60c and i ran it for 2 hrs. that c**p about going above 1.5v is bull c**p, I run my system at 1.52v and 3.75ghz all day long and never get over 52c on load and it idles all day at 33c

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Have you run Prime ver. 25.4 or 25.5 clocked that fast? Do it w/ CPUz running at the same time, I did at 3.6 and 3.8 and found that the chip will drop the multiplier even though I had set it manually and turned off all the thermal protections and speedstep. I don't know if this is happening to you but you can find out for sure by running prime and CPUz together.
See this thread.

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
yep the guys over at tomshardware put me to shame, i couldnt get it stable on 25.4 at 3.6ghz until i put the voltage to 1.51-1.55v, its stable at 3.6 and i dont want to go any higher now, funny things started happening to my system when i ran prime 25.4 at 3.7 and 3.8

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
what kills me is that its everest torture test stable at 3.6 all day with 1.45v i dont know why but my system cant handle the prime 25.4 or 25.5 at all, but everything else is fine and even at 3.7 and 3.8ghz

finally have it prime stable at 3.416 ghz @ 1.475v bios 1.41v cpuz, it took me all week to figure out to start low and go from there, wood butcher do u know the VID of your cpu. I found out a lot about an intel cpu according to this VID.

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
i finally got it prime stable at 3.55ghz at 1.48-1.5v it fluctuates but its totally, fine only goes to 62c, but im happy, got it running at 1100mhz fsb which is sweet, everything loads, whats funny is that it is slower when i run 1110-1150 fsb, my read write and copy times for my ram go from 9400 mb/s to 6500 mb/s

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
this was my first overclock and i'm pretty proud of myself i did it in about 2 minutes. I pushed my C2D e6750 from 2.66 to 3.2 with 400 x8 FSB and 1.4 something voltage. ASUS makes some really good overclocking boards. It idles at 28 and it gets to about 33 under full load playing COD4

sitting at 300x10 on my X2 4000+, cant get any screens to prove it though due to my nics dieing on the mobo.... still working that one out. i need some new ram... this ram is all sorts of screwy. @ 250mhz it ran @ ddr21000, but @ 300 i can get it up past ddr 675ish... quite odd. but for now im more worried about getting my nics working again... grrr

I'm unfamiliar w/ amd but this happens w/ intel if your pci isn't locked.
