Surprise [:O] Microsoft launching DirectX 11!

    Later this year. Hmm

"Microsoft has announced that DirectX 11 will be releasing later this year, delivering a range of bleeding edge new graphics tech for PC gamers.

DirectX 11 will be completely compatible with DX10 hardware, so there will be no need to run out and upgrade your video cards, yet again!"

    "GPU as parallel processor

Microsoft claimed at Seattle's Gamefest event this week that DirectX 11 will feature new shader technology which "lays the groundwork for the GPU to be used for more than just 3D graphics, so that developers can take advantage of the graphics card as a parallel processor."

In addition to DX11's new shader technology, gamers can also look forward to a load of other new tech, including support for tessellation so models will look more refined and smoother up-close; and multi-threaded resource handling to help games better utilise multi-processor set-ups.

This will be interesting to see. Wonder what game manufactures will make a DX11 game.

    So,if I were to buy a Q6600,there would actually be a use?

Would programmers easily be able to switch OVER to Direct-X 11?

Also,if I were to use a celeron and a tri-SLI GTX 280,the 280 would overpower the celeron and you would need LESS of a processor,am I right?

Celeron would bottleneck the shlt out of GTX280 tri sli, so much that it would seem like your running 8800GT instead.

Yes Directx 11 is supposed to be more intuitive to programmers

Theres always use for a quad core

glad MS pushes DirectX as much as they do, but I really disagree with their business model here. I understand their job as a software developer is to make new money by releasing new products, but it's a pretty hard sell to make me believe that DX10 and 11 can't work with XP.
