    1. I asked a while back, cg isn't into those substitution newspaper puzzles.

    2. You can ask two questions but they much be in the same post, edit it real fast.

    3. CG said that the second part does 'decode' the third, but using the word loosely.

    Yay - activity!

    TheLarrikin:
    OG: EVERY OTHER LETTER
Good job figuring out the first part, but that's not the answer to the entire puzzle.  :P

    TheLarrikin:
cg, you said "Spaces will be given out for each step that is solved".  Is that still how it's working?  I looked through your posts, and the only mention of this was in your pre-puzzle postage.
I had originally intended on a HUGE puzzle with parts that would be released one at a time.  This obviously isn't like that, so no, you only get spaces for getting the final answer.  :)

    64mb:
I think he only checks in once a day.
I usually check several times throughout the day, just not in the afternoon or early evening, as this is where most of my classes this semester fall.  If you post something, you can be pretty sure I'll see it the same day.

    mikeduffy13:
Q: Do the colors make any difference in the puzzle conclusion?
    They sure don't!  Bwahaha!

    mikeduffy13:
Q: Does the other string in the second puzzle have any significance? The other string being NOAAIPNLOOSGW
Nope.  Just filler letters for misdirection - same as the colors!

You're doing great guys - keep it up!

Not exactly, but you aren't doing yourself any favors by shuffling things from line to line.

Not exactly, but you aren't doing yourself any favors by shuffling things from line to line.

Now I wonder if 'invert each line' might refer to something other than the third image, since it is 'each line' yet changing the start points (endof the lines) won't affect solving it too much...

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

Yeah I was thinking something about each "line" being only a straight part of each letter, and curves don't count.  But just glancing at it, doesn't look like that would come up with anything.

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

Bah...  all right, here's all the info I have. Anyway, I wouldn't have gotten any of this without other people solving the first parts and asking the correct questions to lead me this far; I would still be trying to rearrange the rainbow-colored words.

Mikeduffy13's questions really helped me with this. Once you confirmed that the inverting is horizontal, I knew for certain what the material I need to be working with is. Then you mentioned letter substitution and that "every other letter" doesn't apply to it, so there are only so many ways to solve it.

I know that words with double letters in them are a good starting point, so I was searching for a site I've seen before that lists the most common patterns of double letter words and has a list of what the words could be. I couldn't find it again, but I did come across this - http://tomacorp.com/codes/workbench.html

    GAS FSHG VNWS
    EU T IELSQ VNWS
    LQ T KQQKNS IELSQ
    USTMVA JQM SKKHXSMG
    XMEPS CQH XWPPNS
    SNSISF GQ IESY

I just started working on it without a list. KQQKNS really stood out, there aren't many words that fit that pattern. I was pretty sure the puzzle didn't involve BOOBIEs or POOPIEs (I have a very mature thought process). My best bet seemed to be GOOGLE. The only other word I could think of is SEESAW, and those letters didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the puzzle very well at all.

    After that, I just filled in the blanks. _ _ _ E O, directly after Google, is clearly VIDEO. E L E _ E _ is ELEVEN, E G G _ _ E _ _ is EGGXPERT, and so on.

    the next clue
    is a video clue
    do a google video
    search for eggxpert
    prize box puzzle
    eleven to view

I was expecting a more direct answer and not such a vague clue, to be honest. I typed in the lyrics of the song and found it is "The Little Things Give You Away" by Linkin Park. I searched for more information about the song, and people are saying the song refers to New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina. The video wasn't quite clear to me... there are some images of a storm... and really a wide variety of images. There are plenty of images of a city, of food, and musical instruments mixed in there... so to me the clues were pointing towards New Orleans.

Once again I have to say I really like this puzzle, it's so difficult when you first start looking at it, and so incredibly easy and obvious once you see how it works. It's also pretty funny that if anyone had just typed "eggxpert puzzle" or "eggxpert prize" into Google (for instance if they lost the link to this forum) it would have led directly to the final clue.

And if anyone had just looked directly at the third clue and realized it's a substitution cypher and just started working on that right away, it could have been solved very quickly. I just assumed that with all the colors and shapes that this was going to lead to something more complicated... great job with the misdirection tactics, lol.

But as for the final answer... I'm completely stuck once again, so someone else can have the honor of uncovering the red X's.

I think it is the title of the song we should look at.

I thought of the substitution thing EARLY... just didn't actually spend 5 hours straight looking for google. (That stuff is hard for me, I did try the little words but nothing too definite stood out.)

If you're talking about the beginning and end of the video, where all the images are in sepia tone, then no, they aren't important.  If that's not what you're talking about, you just got a freebie...  Those parts are just meant to be intro/outro sequences - I thought I'd have a little fun making the video while I was at it.  :)

    Re: The EggXpert Prize Box

Here's a list of what images appear:

    an open safe
    white van
    blue vase
    open elevator door
    lightning strike
    eggs in the grass
    frozen river/glacier?
    stoplight (on green)
    gasoline pump in a car
    deer with antlers
    accordion player
    gray alleyway
    sailing ship
salad with cheese and some kinds of seeds
sand dunes with 2 people on top
    busy street with ELLIS sign
    slice of chocolate pie
    pier at the ocean
    black and white buffalo
    berries and cream
green backyard that looks "too perfect"
long stretch of highway with clouds
    railroad tracks
    stoplight (on red, with snow)
    forest scene
brussels sprouts? some kind of vegetable
    military helicopter
    musical notes
    dollars and change
    foggy plains
bicyclist on a road with a steep incline sign
glass of water with ink dropped in it
New York City at night with the WTC spotlights on
    red sports car
    blue jeans
    cargo ship (I think)

I really can't see how these things could be related at all in a way that would give a puzzle to solve. I'm thinking there are some "little things" in maybe two or three images that we're supposed to look out for.
