No, we're just marketing you expensive RAM...

Of course they are compatible with the motherboard. However, if you want to make sure, you can go to Gigabyte's website to make sure

Re: ram compatible with gigabyte x48 ds4

Gigabyte will not go ahead and test every manufacturer's DDR2 module on each motherboard just to see if they are compatible. DDR2 is the RAM type that the motherboard uses. If Gigabyte and the RAM manufacturer followed all the rules, the motherboard and RAM should place nicely together.

Re: ram compatible with gigabyte x48 ds4

Plain DDR2 is plain DDR2 is plain DDR2.

I've seen preformance differences a LOT, but I've never seen plain (as opposed to Fully Buffered or Server ram) DDR2 not work in a regular DDR2 slot, just because it's not a "listed brand".

Re: ram compatible with gigabyte x48 ds4

The only time when RAM refuses to work on a motherboard is when the motherboard does not accept the voltages required bby the DIMM. However, since you bought one of those expensive motherboards, that's not a problem for you.

Re: ram compatible with gigabyte x48 ds4

Hey everyone just an update... I contacted Gigabyte and they said it should run fine..I also read reviews with people who have the same board as me and the ram worked fine with it but they had to change the timing..... Is that hard to do and also... will it boot with the timing being wrong?? THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Re: ram compatible with gigabyte x48 ds4

As state elsewhere, it will boot at 800 MHz, 1.8V, stock timings of 5-5-5-15.

To change the settings you must go into the system BIOS.

If the motherboard BIOS dies not support manually setting those settings, then you're kind of stuck with stock timings, huh?

The X48 DS4 should support changing those settings, I suggest reading the motherboard manual (available online) for more info.
