Asus PG 221 monitor self-contained speaker issue

    Hello all!

I bought the referenced monitor for our home and have a question for those more knowledeable than myself (it won't take much!Confused).

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop attached to a docking station (port replicator). The docking station has a single stereo female port. I have attempted to connect the monitors speakers via a "Y" connector between the laptop/dock mini port via 2 RCA plugs to the monitors speaker ports. This does not appear to work. I have checked and double checked the volume levels and all connections and find no problems, but still no sound. I have 2 external laptop speakers which test fine with the dock sound port.

    Anyone familiar with the PG221?

AlSO: this link shows the input ports (including audio) for the PG 221 monitor:

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!

    Jim

I dont have any experience with this monitor, but I have done this with my monitor but using hdmi instead. Check for a setting or go throw you menu buttons on the monitor and look for  sound options and look for an audio1 or audio2 setting and select the one you have it plugged into, and that should do the trick. Make sure you set it for audio 1 or 2 depending on where you plugged it in.

Have you tried plugging it into all of the audio ports???

    Thanks, Kpaul!

I have checked the monitors settings (they are all touchscreen commands) and do not find a specific setting for audio inputs.  I will check again, thanks to your  suggestion.

     I really appreciate the input!

Just a note to let you guys know that I figured out what the issue was with my monitor's speakers.  Let's just say it was operator error, okay? Whistler

Ummmm, Kpaul, as embarrassed as I should be, I admit that had I read Rulez the instructions (in my defense they did not come with the monitor but were found on the Asus web page), I would have known that I mistakenly plugged into the wrong female input on the monitor itself.  Guilty as charged!

Thanks again for trying to help me!
