Why is IE so open to problems?

Recenty I got to know that lots of my friends are using Firefox, but not IE. Can't help asking:" What's wrong with IE? Unutsand why firefox? ". Yeah it seems that  Firefox has been proved to be much less prone to some of the security attacks. Well,  I never tried it, My IE just works fine. But I do know that most people who use the internet don't take time to learn a little about internet security and what they need to be careful of like properly setting up their internet security to lower the risk.

But guys, why is IE so open to problems?  Is Internet Explorer Scecurity Really That Bad?

Personally I use both, they both have there ups and downs. and Fire Fox has all those sweet readily available add-ons that are much easier to find.

At least at one time IE was more vulnerable simply because it had more market share and so folks would target it more.  That still might be true to some extent.

I use FF almost exclusively.  I prefer it because of the add-ons and how customizable FF is.  I feel that I can really customize FF to my needs/desires.

I like all the privacy features and add-ons.

Re: Why is IE so open to problems?

There is nothing wrong with either browser from a security point of view. I use both depending on my mood. If IE 7 64 bit worked with IE 7 pro (as of this post), I would give the edge to IE 7 (although FF 3 is a very nice improvement over FF 2).

When FF came out, the taunt was that it was more secure but as more users adopted it the “bad guys” have had reason to target it. FF does not natively support Active X, the primary target of IE hacks, but that has not stopped the “bad guys” from using alternate methods of attack. Both browsers have susceptibilities.

At this point in time, it really comes down to preference. As I mentioned, I use both and I think they are equally qualified from both a performance and security standpoint.

    So true.

I don't know of any real reason other than hearsay with why FF security is so much better than IE, so if anyone has information or a link to an article about an actual documented attack I would love to hear about it.

I like FF better because I customize it to the way I like it.

Both are reasonably secure now.  IE used to have some problems but not lately.  The only thing I would say is still a core vulnerability that IE has which nothing else will is its direct tie in to the OS.  IE is in effect windows explorer, note that you can't ever really install IE because its a critical windows component, so when IE is compromised it is (Theoretically at least) a direct pipe to windows, where it is much less likely that a similar vulnerability in firefox would enable an attacker to gain that level of control over your system.

Re: Why is IE so open to problems?

not a big issue. IE + Firefox Yes that is my choice. i use firefox for my daily work. it is faster and stable. but i enjoy my IE when i surf around the foreign websites. is there any security issues, yep, maybe. if you surf around the newegg forum all day long, i don't see any reason to concern about the security issues. ROFL

also i try other combinations:  opera + IE  opera+ff

all works great. so enjoy your internet experience.
