    correct order for sata drives

In the past i've put drives in this order (no raid array) dvd burner sata 1 - dvd player sata 2 - hd (OS) sata 3- hd (storage) sata 4.

I've experience no problems, but is this correct?

    Thanks

Re: correct order for sata drives

I would figure you'd connect OS, Storage, DVD Player, DVD Burner......but that might be my reasoning from the IDE days, where you had a Primary and Secondary IDE. Hard drives would go on the primary, CD/DVD drives on the secondary.

Re: correct order for sata drives

I don't think SATA has an order of precedence the way IDE does. You can more or less pick your boot order and there is no master-slave relationship.  There could be a loose relationship based on ordering but I've never seen any mobo documentation discuss it outside of raid instructions.  I'm going to go with the old philosophy of if it aint broke, don't fix it.  It would be just the wrong luck that you'll change it around, get an error, go to change it back, and have it not work and spend a week figuring it out.

Order does not matter with SATA.

The only comment I have is one SATA Desktop we have here at work has a separate SATA Boot Order in BIOS Setup, but I haven't seen this any where else.
