    Over Network HD Benchmark

Does anyone know of any, preferably free, utilities that work similar to HD Tach, just for Mapped Networked Drives?

A far as I know there are no benchmarks for network drives. All you are doing is accessing files from across the network to a shared location. I recommend using that program on the PC that you are accessing files from. There are also utlities around to test network performance.

    OS?

For Linux SAMBA setup, I use iostat command.  Specifically:

    iostat -m 10 5

Which you can find under the sysstat package.

    Sheldon: I didn't invent them. They're there.
    Leonard: Yeah? In what universe?
Sheldon: In all of them, that's the point!

    Whoops, Windows XP Pro.

I guess I can just start a transfer of a 500MB+ file and see what network usage goes up to in the task manager.
