    Vista or 64bit XP

I have a problem, stick with XP or go with Vista on my new PC. I want a 64bit OS but I don't know what to do. As a note this is my first build.

    Re: Vista or 64bit XP

Go with Windows Vista 64-bit. I say this after using 64-bit XP and Vista for quite some time. I have 64-bit XP on my workstation dual boot with Linux, and Vista in my living room PC. There's better hardware support for Vista, DX10 graphics, side bar gadgets, shadow copy, automatic defragmenting, more secure, etc. I could keep going but you get the idea. The only reason to stick with XP is for software compatibility if you use CAD, multimedia production, or other OS picky software. Good luck with your first build, it's a lot of fun!

Vista x64 gets my vote. Much better driver support now. My Vista x64 build a few weeks ago was painless. I've never had complaints about XP but really appreciate what MS has delivered with Vista x64 SP1.

If you are going to deal with the various driver issues with a 64 bit OS you may as well use the more capabile one. I for sure would go Vista.

It depends on what you want to do in the OS. if u wanna maximize you hardware power, get more security and better entertainment feeling, IMO, you should choose Vista. But if you are not familiar with it, and want more compatible drivers and software supports, then it’s a good choice for you to have XP.

    Re: Vista or 64bit XP

I'd rather go with Vista. It's not bad although Vista did have its problems about a year ago but it smoothed out day by day. Bugless OS doesn't exist, the best we could have is the most stable one. So better to try Vista. Besides, Windows has continued the XP at the end of June. XD
