??? How can an overlock make a CPU run COOLER?

I've been running my computer on stock speeds for a few months now (dropping down when my case had less than adequate cooling), and during that time I added a second fan. Well, I finally got a new game and decided to overclock it again and now it's running two degrees cooler. WHAT? I'm stumped. I'm using CoreTemp to monitor temperatures and I'm running the processor on stock cooling. Seriously, I had my computer running at stock and it was averaging 40 on core 0, restarted, overclocked it and now it's running at about 38 on core 0.

      8800GT Akimbo Superclocked

2gb SuperTalent RAM running at stock DDR2 800

      Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H

      160gb Western Digital Hard Drive

      Corsair 450VX power Supply

I'm sorry. You lost me somewhere between the tin foil hat and the mushroom people invasion.

It sounds really weird. I never heard that before. To the best of my knowledge, under clocking the cpu can lower the temp but never over clocking  it and maybe something else improved the airflow. Besides, usually people get better cooling to prevent the overclocked cpu from overheating.Stick out tongue
