Asus Rampage X48 and Zalman CNPS95000 AT

Not sure which section this needs to be in but I thought this might be a little more on topic.

I am building a new PC and had a question regarding the ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 and the ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT. Does anyone know whether or not it will fit? I've checked and checked and can't find anything that says it does no problem. I'd hate to get it and then realize it doesn't. The case I'm planning to go with is the Antec Twelve Hundred if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

To me it looks like it will hit the north bridge heat shinks there very close to the socket. Also the HS&F is 112mm wide.

    I see.

Thank you for the post. Is there any recommended fan that I can use? I'd like to have one like the Zalman, which blows towards to back, pushing the air out instead just stright toward the side.

Here is one that I do recommend I have the other version of it for the AM2.

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler - Retail

Thermaltake CL-P0370 92mm Enter CPU Cooler - Retail

I noticed one person claims the Thermaltake sends the hot air to the front of the case and then another one says it sends it towards to back.

Both are a lot cheaper than the Zalman but the Zalman looks so much better...

Well if you want a Zelman you have to change the motherboard.

I too recently purchased an ASUS Rampage Formula board, and the NB cooler is ..huge, and yet the Northbridge still runs hot, beside the point though...I too purchased a heatsink that wont fit, anyone have some suggestions on one that will fit?

Hello! Newbie here.  I just built my first PC and I can say for sure that Zalman 9500 won't fit. As I discovered unhappily when I tried to put it in!

    I went with a Zerotherm Butterfly :

Which BARELY fits. It looks like the tip of one of the butterfly wings brushes the top of the NB cooler. I was told it would not be a major issue, hope that's right!

Re: Asus Rampage X48 and Zalman CNPS95000 AT

I put the same fan on a Asus P5E Deluxe and it fit. Mounting was another issue and I would test before putting the MB in the case. The only way I could get the clip to work at all (without any cutting or bending) was to mount it so the fan retaining clip is front to back i.e. on the same axis as the fan. And then I had to go ahead and attach one end of the clip to the mounting ring before mounting to the mb and then had to finagle everything in place.

    So, maybe there's better alternatives...
