ok, i have an eMachine (my dad bought it for me, not my idea lol) and when i boot it now it loads the Emachine logo but nothing for window it just goes black. no windows logo or nething. So i dowloaded a bootleg of xp(lost my orgnial disc, i know, fayle on my part) and it didnt boot(but hta coulda been me) so i switched HD with a comp i dont use nemore and it boots to the screen that asks how i want to boot windows (safe mode, last know good config, ect.) and when i choose one the comp just restarts. Does ne1 know whats wrong and how to fix? thx in advance

    Epic phail....lol.  jk

Just guessing your os is hosed.  The drive from your old system is rebooting because of drivers for a different system.  A repair install probably won't work, since the os you're installing probably doesn't match (service pack level, oem or retail) the os that was originally installed.

So, I'd do a clean install on the drive from the old system to see how things go.  This way, you at least will leave the first drive intact so you can add it later as a data drive and pull whatever off you want or need.  (provided the hd didn't die)

Set your bios to boot to cd, and you're off.

No worries.  And who knows, it could still be a hardware thing, but this is a mostly painless way to find out.

    Hope it all goes well.
