    X2 5600+ vs X2 6000+

So I know shame on me for not going Intel but hey I love my X2 so far this is a surprise rig for my old mans birthday though and I plan to go quad core soon and try the Intel side.

Anyways I wanted to upgrade this rig before giving it to him this is my original rig it isn't 2.0 ready so bare with me.

    X2 4400+ 2.3ghz (Freezer Pro 7 Cooler)
    2x PC6400 1GB G-skill Memory (plan to buy 2 more sticks)
    1x 8800GT 512mb PCI-e x16
    vx450w Corsair PSU
    500GB HD
    MSI K9N SLI-F nForce 570LT Socket AM2+

Now I want to upgrade the CPU and I was curious between the 5600+ or the 6000+ the only big difference is I go from a 65w CPU to a 125w CPU for a few extra bucks also double cache.

Question would be could my after market cooler keep it cool? Currently in a 80F room temp 4400+ runs @ 25c idle and 32c on high load on hotter days its more like 30c to 38c I never had a CPU pump out 125w before so dunno if a 92mm fan would keep it cool I don't plan to over clock.

This is the major issue is heat. The 3.0ghz with double the cache is nice but on a budget so buying another cooler isn't a option atm so anyone that has a 6000+ with it please post your temps on cpu + your room temps.

I learned from my 4400+ that AMD put some real CRAPPY heat sinks in with the X2 line. Also there any issues with the 6000+.

Any help would be great thank you :)

One of my rigs has an athlon 64 4800+ X2 939 socket 110 watt processor, with a 95mm hsf and room temps at 68F it idled about 42c and got up to 55C under full load (that was with a slight overclock, I don't think I ever ran that cpu at stock settings lol).

I would go with the 5600+.  By the way, you checked and made sure that your main board will support these new processors right?

    Re: X2 5600+ vs X2 6000+

Yeah that is a tad hot :)

Also yes my board supports up to Phenom AM2 and AM2+ perhaps you were thinking I was running a single core upgrading to a X2?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Sku=M452-6006 is the mb. Rather nice board I had issues with ASUS/ECS boards had a total of 4 DOAs in a row on the making of this rig about 8 months ago. I will go MSI again nothing flashy just a quality board.

Yeah thats my board though when I bought it was 5-6 months ago so price has dropped :)

Was a shame back when I went to buy Newegg was out of stock so went with TG though I love TG they are right by me so I get stuff in under 24 hours when I order which at that point after 4 DOA boards was worth the extra cash spent but they can't beat neweggs prices ^_^
