Knockout [punch] I Can't Install Vista

I'm having major problems with my computer (the one in my sig).

I recently decided to reinstall Windows Vista since it had been a while and I had a lot of c**p on my hard drive that I didn't want.  I used Darik's Boot and Nuke to wipe my drive by using the quick erase option.  Then I went to reinstall windows by booting from the Vista DVD and it froze on the "Windows is loading files" screen.  So I tried it a few more times and I kept getting a bunch of different BSODs after the loading files screen.  Some of the errors included:

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    ...and a few others.

Then, it started freezing on the POST screen so I reset the CMOS and even flashed the BIOS but I still get the same BSODs.  I took out any hardware that I don't need like the sound card and I tried both sticks of RAM and I still have problems.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if you are having the same issue that I had, but I recently reinstalled Windows Vista as well.  I was installing the 64-bit edition, but I don't know if that makes a difference.  The install would, well, stall, or BSOD.  Turns out Vista was unable to properly run the install from my Samsung SATA DVD burner.  I hooked up one of my old IDE DVD burners, and the install completed just fine.

I've never heard of this one, I'll speculate though.

I'd take a blind shot and say it's your optical drive reading the data incorectly, but that's only one thing I could guess at.

The second this is that you burnt the disc from ISO to DVD and all the data wasn't 1:1.

Well, I hope this helped at least in a small way.

Not sure if your answer was directed toward me or jekjobinc, but in case it was in reference to my post, I was actually installing Vista Ultimate from a retail DVD.

Usually problems like this are caused by corrupted media. Try cleaning the disc to remove and dirt and debris. If that doesn’t work try to use a different DVD.
