The flash image viewer needs to go...

    Hello. :)

I hope I'm in the right forum for this, but I think I am.

Just a minor gripe. Well, not really that minor, because I find this highly irritating:

Many of the products at NewEgg have multiple images of them, and alot of them are Flash now. I'm using Firefox with the Flash Blocker plugin because having sites open up with 15 Flash animations assaulting my senses and competing for my attention is just simply annoying.

But, I *do* want to see the product images at NewEgg. Yes, Flash Blocker allows you to see Flash, but you have to manually click on an icon in order to do so. That means that for every product image at NewEgg, I have to first click on the image, then click on the icon in order to allow it to load.

My suggestion is that all the images for that product be done up in one Flash "animation" with a button to view "Next", instead of each image being its own Flash animation/image/thingy/whatever you call it.

Now, I know it can't be just me. Many, many people are using FF with Flash Block....

Better yet, good old jpeg's and GIF's seem to have withstood the test of time...

LOL, it's not newegg's fault, you're taking measures to block Flash.

The only 'downside' to the flash viewer is that I can't link to images of the parts. For instance, on here, to show a forum member what I'm talking about exactly.

The huge upside to the flash viewer is that I can zoom. You don't know how many times that feature has come in very handy. At times when looking at the cases, I can zoom into the fans that are being supplied and see how they connect (3pin or 4 pin). At other times, I can half way anticipate what the cable management in the case will be like, by looking around a blown up view. I can't think of any other examples at the moment, but you get the idea.

Well, yeah, you're right. I have to admit, I like Flash. I'm sure you've seen online photo galleries, or game sites with screenshots where they have many images compiled into one flash animation, with buttons for "next" or "previous". That would be cool if NewEgg could do that, rather than each image on its own. The zoom could still be used too.

In any event, if that's the biggest gripe I have with NewEgg, they're doing pretty well. :-)

And, they are, far as I'm concerned. I've ordered many many things and haven't had a single problem with either delivery or functionality of the product. Just plopped $350.00 down just yesterday, on a new chassis and PSU...

Well, if Mr. Newegg reads this, I hope he'll consider my Flash suggestion. ;-)

Plop $350,000 on an order, and Mr. Newegg will be more than happy to change the site around to your liking. lol, j/k

Re: The flash image viewer needs to go...

The Flash imag viewer needs to go because it does not/cannot show the detailed item descriptions the non-Flash versions give me.  It is a bit ironic that the Flash video talking about Newegg's market success touts the product details in the product images, but they are disappearing.

WE HATE FLASH!  One of the biggest security holes (for IE nad Firefox) still being marketed.
