    Laptop optical drive choice

I'm looking to upgrade the dvd/cdr drive in my laptop to a dvdr drive and have a few questions about form factors and am looking for recommendations.

My comp is a little known brand called Mitac it has a toshiba mobo I believe. The model number is 8375, it uses a AMD 2200+ mobile XP, and has 1gb of ram.

Is there a standard size that is used in all laptop optical drives or do I need a specific drive for my machine?

I don't need a top of the line drive but I'd like at least 6x dvdr, any recommendations? Since newegg doesn't carry this, any recommended sites?

yep, most of the laptops use the standard optical drive. but i don't know where sells optical drive online. maybe it is better to buy it on local store, you can bring you lappy to the store and they will fix it well. that will make sure everything will be okay. and maybe some other guys will recommend you some places or some good brands. you know, i only know newegg Wink

BTW, my Toshiba optical is DVD SuperMulti it works well.

pretty much standard but if you'd list the current dvd/cdr drive it would be of help ..I currently prefer Toshiba/Samsung ..specifically  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151162 for about $52 shipped ..works very well in my cr220 (the pioneer dvr k17 sucked)
