Do you love your FM transmitter? Tell me!

Is anyone out there rabidly pleased about the performance of their FM transmitter when used with their mp3 player? I'd like to find one that sends a clean, clear signal to a car stereo and to a home stereo about 30-60 ft. away. I've tried several but have been very disappointed by weak, hissy signals. Curious thing I've noted is that most don't mention the word "stereo" in their specifications. The quality of some have made me suspect they don't even send stereo signals.

Anyone had success? My trial-and-error system hasn't worked so far. Thanks

FM transmitters are limited by FCC Regulations. As a result they are generally all very very weak and must be placed rediciously close to the antenna to even be heard and usually are unable to transmit a clean stereo signal. This results in the radio dropping to mono. I would suggest an AUX in capable head unit.

Ive tried about 3 in my time and they all suck horribly.

My GPS has FM broadcast, and I really hate it..  You can't drive for more than 40 minutes before you drive into range of a station that is broadcasting on the frequency that you set your FM transmitter to (or come into range of something making a lot of interference on that frequency range)..  For the most part, I just use the internal speaker on the GPS or the audio out (wish I had Aux In on my car stereo!). The speaker on the GPS is loud enough, but is cruddy quality.

If you're staying in one spot, then yes, I think it's quite possible to get good quality FM transmissions from an MP3 player.. But if you're on the go, then it's simply not possible unless you're comfortable switching stations every 30-50 minutes.

Don't like either! Weak FM signals sometimes turns to be the most annoying thing! Also some models that connect via ports other than the headphone jack have no means of controlling the volume, and then audio distortion may come up! Well, at least it's not an attractive stuff to me. Smile

I love mine! I did a bunch of research before I got it and it's well worth the price. Probably the only decent product iRiver ever made. Sorry, newegg doesn't carry it but it's

I use a FM transmitter for my iPod. It works ok. The only problem I have with it is sometimes I cannot find a free station that is clear of interfering. Another problem is that I do not think it broadcasts to my radio in stereo.

The one BUILT INTO MY ZUNE (gotta rub it in) works fine, but I live in Seattle and my local station I actually care about is the only one I checked, how ever it also has the support, forgot what its called, but it tells me what song is playing...
