Full time highschool student, hard work I tell yah. (Ok, my high school is as easy as it could possibly be, but...maybe I'm just too smart for it) I plan for my career to be in advertising or website design or something for Apple.

    Re: What's your job?

Yeah, people do suck. I work for Mesa Networks, Inc - The largest distributer of Motorola Canopy Subscriber Modules in the U.S. - I do tech support.

I get more people that are...inapt to operate a computer, much less use the internet. As an example, one woman put in a ticket with the following:

"How do I let people know of my new email address?"

    ---

    I promptly wrote back:

"Well, you can do any of the following.

    1. Call them and tell them of your new email address.

    2. Email them and tell them of your new email address.

    3. Walk up to them and tell them of your new email address.

I've had much success using any of these methods."

    ---

Another time a woman argued with us for half an hour that we weren't sending her the signal she paid for, because her monitor said 'No signal.'

    Re: What's your job?

I am an IT consultant for a large telecommunications billing software company, where I do lots of Unix, Oracle, and custom programming work.

Additionally,  I do some work for a small consulting and IT outsourcing company.

Plus, I own my own business doing builds and some web work.

When it comes to computers, I've done a little of everything.

I'm a website content editor for a company called InfoGenius. I'm also a PHP & ASP.NET web developer but I've lost some of my skills with other languages over time so I am re-learning a few programming languages.

I also do more... but I'm under an NDA right now and all I can say is http://www.codango.com.

I enjoy long walks on the beach, kicking alien ass, saving all of humanity and still have enough time to go home and have dinner at night.

    tonjohn:

I am a fulltime CSE major at SMU who is also working on his Masters in Game Development.

I spend my weekends waiting at The Purple Cow where I have recently been promoted to Manager, and if I don't get an internship with a software developer this summer, I'll be promoted to General Manager.

I am a part time IT consultant and Director of ITS for a small real estate research firm in Dallas.  It is great money :)

I am actively seeking a career in game development.  My degrees will position towards a job as an engine designer but my goal is to be a producer.  I am currently in talks with several developers to intern this summer but nothing is set in stone yet.

Oh, and I do volunteer online customer support for Valve Corporation where my specialty is hardware.  I have been with them for two years now and it has been a great learning experience.  In fact, I got the chance to visit their HQ in Seattle last October and was able to playtest Portal :)
