Re: What kind of camera are you using?

All Canon: A610, S410 and the A70. Like many I'd love a DSLR, but don't have the money. My brother has a 350D, so I can use that from time to time.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

Another cannon sd800si user. relpaced my cannon 400. Very nice camera. the only real complaint is that shooting in natural light images can be a little grainy but all in all I love it for what it is.
I have an older cannon rebel slr 35 mm that almost never gets picked up anymore.

Sony DSC 717.  I've had for over four years, and I'm still happy with what I'm able to get out of it most of the time.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

    Canon SD900

    Nikon N80

Both are great, though the long standing Canon lens issue still exists in the SD900.  I cannot recommend it without a extended currently, like the one I bought from Newegg ;)

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

Well im using 2 DSLR  cameras, both are nikons, one D-50 and one D-100, prior to the nikons i used a kodak 7630 12 meg pix extended zoom, point and shoot digi camera, i really likes it mostly because of it's size, it went every where with me, but so does my nikon D-50 , i must say ive never seen better picts than with my nikon, it all has a lot to do with your lenses and fstops, exposures, etc, etc, reason i got rid of the kodak was the thing stopped working , so i purchased two cameras one new d-50 one and a used one d-100., both will give me 1500 picts on a single battery charge. thats great preformance from a camera and battery.

i noticed there are a lot of canon users in here, great camera also that was my second choice but i didnt like the price and avail settings, but that is a personal choice.

Ive got almost $2,500  in lens, adapters, filters, tripods and magnifying lenses for extream close up shots to count the hairs on a flies behind.  and telephoto lense that will bring a object a mile away up to where it looks like it is right in front of you, i use that for my wildlife shots. will never go back to a point and shoot camera again. love my new cameras. have done taken 6,300 some odd picts, guess im a freak on pictures, but got some excellent shots tho.

bullsilver, i still would love to try out a canon tho.

Best reason over "point n' shooters" is to have *interchangable lenses*

    I want my Canon 100-400

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

Nikon D50 myself. I need the power for my position as photo editor for my school's newspaper. I wish it had more focus areas though, since five gets kind of annoying after a while. I'd probably go with a bigger LCD screen as well, like the D40. Good camera overall though!

dslr seems like a huge jump from a point and shoot! haha

It's the only jump unless you want to go to a film SLR first

    DSLR's are $$

Look into the Nikon D40 kit. It takes amazing pictures even with just the kit lens for a very reasonable price. It is a good, inexpensive way to get your foot in the door to the DSLR world. It is an amazing piece of equipment for the price.
