Like someone else here already stated, i'm no noob but I still found this to be a spectacular refresher. Thanks for the effort.

One revision though. HDMI doesn't transmit sound, just video unless i'm mistaken.

Re: Eggxpert Jargon for Newcomers 101

    MrMonroe:
    • FSB: Front Side Bus: This reference can refer to two numbers; either the base front side bus or the rated front side bus. Base front side bus is the basic speed in mhz of your CPU. When you multiply the base FSB by the multiplier, you get the total speed of the processor. For instance, the Q6600 has a base FSB of 266mhz and a multiplier of 9, so it's total speed is 2.4ghz. Rated FSB is the speed at which your CPU communicates with your motherboard.

how do you know what the multiplier is?

    Dual or Quad?

Re: Eggxpert Jargon for Newcomers 101

You can find out your cpu's multiplier in you motherboards bios settings generally in the frequency/voltage settings.  Similarly you can use some overclocking tools to view your fsb, multiplier and voltage settings.

I didn't even notice this was here for a while.  Printed it out as a nice little reference for others.

Yes, a genius idea, this thread! Applause You are very clever and intelligent, MrMonroe, to have put the info together in such a compact and comprehensible fashion. Thank you very much! It was a great read!

Oh, and the humour! (ex.  ISP: Internet Service Provider. They're the one's stretching you over a barrel so you can read this. or "looks like a phone jack after three kids") ROFL

Oh, and one I didn't get for a while was "Blue Screen Of Death" - at first I thought the "bs" in "BSOD" stood for "bull $#1t"
