Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
tried folding on my 4890 last night but seem to get major coil whine. I don't think it's something i can send it back for though .
Should have stuck with nvidia.
EDIT: seems to be coming from my pcp & c 750 and not the card. Geuss I'll have to see if i can get it covered under warranty.

Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
Well guys i have to shut the folding rigs down. Saving up for a new condo and can't afford the electric bills right now .
I'm looking into a rackmount case so I can slide the main folding rig into the rack at work but anything with enough space to move all the WC parts to are out of my price range. And I havent seen any that I can fit 2 full size gpus in.
Its been fun guys, looks like prtuc2 should be able to overtake me for the #1 spot pretty soon

Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
I also had to cut down on folding in the summer time, so Kardon you get to be spot 1 for a pretty long time unless there is someone with a crazy folding rig will join the team soon.

Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
Yep I know where you are coming from there, MM and I had to stop folding due to price increases on the electricity + switching to a higher priced ISP the $30 extra a month with neither of us working now just got too expensive and come July/August when the heat is real bad here in Georgia and the AC runs 24/7 it gets real bad!!

Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
Well, I got my new low-power Linux box put together... I've got the GPU client running through wine with 32-bit CUDA Linux drivers on my integrated GeForce 8100 chip... So yea, I've got the Windows Folding@Home GPU client running on my Linux box motherboard, which is pretty cool.. I'm getting about 1% every 30 minutes when running the GPU client and a desktop at 1280x1024 with 512 MB of shared memory set with 4 gigs of RAM. This is pretty insane, but I think I'm going to make the deadlines as this box runs 24/7.. Now I just need to get a GTX 260 or something to throw into this... Doubt it will fit in my TTlanbox though, might have to go with a GTS 250 instead.. But just a head up, that I do have 2 more cores and a GPU client running under my name now 24/7 in addition to the several PCs I've already got downstairs (and possibly another GPU client running a GTS 250 on the way)... You guys are so far ahead though... Those GPU clients really burn through workunits.. nvidia's Linux support is so awesome, no hassles at all getting full DRI acceleration on my nvidia 8100.. They've got their own ncurses based driver installer, complete CUDA SDK for Linux and everything. So much has changed in the past couple years I've been out of Linux..
Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAIDI never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team
Anyone know of a 4U rackmount case that will fit 3 gtx260s and 6 hds? Preferably under $100. I can stick my old folding rig in the rack at work and avoid power bills but need to provide my own case. Don't mind used.
Actualy I think I found one but need to to find cages for 3.5" drives that slide into 5 1/4" slots. The only ones i can find are for hotswap and start at like $100. I just need cheap ones like they used in the old stackers

Picked up this 4U http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370223699430&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching. Will be modding it to fit my rad and pump for the water cooling gear in the folding rig. I'm pretty pumped.

Niceeee, I'll get back to foldign right after i swap out the fan in my PSU. . . The original one in my Antec Earthwatts 650 was making a horrible noise so i unplugged it The P182 still keeps in pretty cool by having it isolated and all. (ps look at the door mod i did to my P182! Its in the modding section)

Link us! we are lazy lol. Or at least i am.
I'm almost done with the 4u case. Let me tell you fitting 6 drives, 3 large gpus, a 3x80 rad, pump and res in a cheap 4U is just about as much of a pain as it sounds. lol

If you RMA to Antec, they will replace your PSU and you won't have to pay return shipping.. If it's an old model they don't have in stock anymore, then you'll get a free upgrade.. I RMA'd a 350 SmartPower Antec because the temp controlled fan stopped spinning and I got back a 500 Watt True Power II with a little note saying that the SmartPower series was no longer being manufactured and they hoped I would accept a True Power as a replacement..
Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAIDI never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.
