Pretty old...57. But I still play Everquest, Everquest 2 and also the LOTRO open beta. It's a nice escape from the day to day grind of RL and I wouldn't have it any other way. I will be playing until I can't see the keys any longer...LOL

I'm freakin old. (30.5)   I've always wondered what the average age of most gamers are out there.  Is gaming something that's mostly stuck with my generation or am I just old and immature?

26 here heh. To my opinion, gaming it's not about gettin' stuck in generations or an immature thing; it's a passion, a part of our culture, and for others: a way of living.

    Re: How old are we?

19, I'm surprised to see most members are quite older than me. I've been a gamer since the release of Doom II, and played Counter-Strike from it's 6th or 7th Beta release when I was 12, till Source came when I was 18. Right now CS:S is getting way to monotonous and beating Half-Life 2 and Far Cry for the 342th time doesn't seem to appealing anymore :-P.

    Re: How old are we?

    .9166 * 12 = 10.9992 months past your last birthday.

    12 - 10.9992 = 1.0008 months till your birthday

    365 / 12 = 30.4166... days in an average month

    30.4166 * 1.0008 months = 30.44093328 days intil your birthday

That means your birthday would be May 10th.

Freakin old? You need another 17.5 years sonny Wink. At (almost) 48, I just loaded Prey, and I am awaiting Half Life 2 Episode 2. While my hand-eye coordination isn't what it used to be, I'm still hanging in there!

To really see how "old" we are, I have a question.

What is the first game you ever played?

Mine = Combat on Atari 2600 (My sister got it for Christmas that year)

If it's there and you can see it — it's real.
If it's not there and you can see it — it's virtual.
If it's there and you can't see it — it's transparent.
If it's not there and you can't see it — you erased it !

    1 + 1 = 10

My first game = Mario 64 when I was like 5.
Second game = Counter Strike (I think it was at like 1.1 or 1.2 when I started playing)

    39 Here.

I think it is part of our generation.  We grew up with Pong/Atari/Commodores/Arcades.

I love the things.  I'm always on the computer blowing stuff up.  Will I be doing it at 50+?  You better believe it.

I'm 37, and I was a pretty hard-core gamer back in the day. After taking a few years off, I'm dipping my toes back in the gaming pond again, and I like how the water feels...

How about the original "Quest" on a big metal mainframe at IBM and I mean big as in it took up an entire floor of the building and used punchcards for programming...  I was only a "little one" then but I remember playing it back then and even remember the days when 10 MB hard drives were the size of refrigerators and the platters were each 1/4" thick and weighed a ton.

Heck, I used to own one of the first Winchester hard drives meant for home.  It weighed 40 pounds and had to be plugged in to the wall separately from the rest of the system.  Yes, it was meant for the home and it was designed to go inside a case.  I may not be quite that old as some but sometimes, in the immortal words of Indiana Jones, it ain't the years it's the mileage...

The earliest ones I can remember besides pong are games on the OdessyII.  Like Pitstop, and a cowboy one... Can't remember the name of that one... Actually I think it was Shootout.

    Re: How old are we?

I'm 18. I've been playing video games since I was 7 or 8. This was thanks in part to my mom which btw is about 33. I can get her to play sometimes but not that much. I used to play all the time with my step who is around 35. Plus like all my mom's friends play video games especially the new consoles. Guess gaming is just part of mine and my family/friend's life.
