    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

Been thinking about this a bit and I think your right Poducts. Here we just call it sales taxe all rolled into one. Sense I live in Orange County C.A. lower sale taxes here and Newegg is in L.A. County which has a higher sales taxe rate, I would be paying the L.A. taxe if I use will call. If I get them to ship to me I save because I'm paying Orange County taxe rates. But either way it still cheepr for me, it's just do I want to drive over the hill to will call.

    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

Will Call sounds like a really neat idea, although, to be honest, doesn't seem like something that will be down here where I live. ;X Oh, well, I will still fill this out~

What city and state do you live in?
    McAllen, Texas.

What is your nearest major city? How far is that from you?
Depends on what you mean by major city. Border cities here don't have a single city, but a ton of them all over the place. IE: The region has more people than San Antonio in about a similar land-size. McAllen... is o miles away!
But if you mean major as in 1m or about population, then that would be either San Antonio or Houston, TX, 4oo~5oo miles away. ;(

How far are you willing to drive to a Newegg Will Call Center?
    C. 25-50 miles
Preferably not toooo close o the 5o mile mark 'cause that'll be 1oo to and back. ;/

Where would you feel comfortable picking up your package?
    A. Official Newegg only will call center
    C. Newegg will call center within a mail/copy center

    I'm not a fan of B or D, alas~!

    A. 0-5 miles

Where would you feel comfortable picking up your package?
    A. Official Newegg only will call center

I answered  No way, I like my stuff delivered

I shop online When it saves me money. If having local will call centers would in any way raise prices then I would say don't open any and close the current one. If it is saving the customers money then by all means, go nation wide. Even though my local electronics superstore now matches online, in stock prices, they still wont match coupon code prices and more importantly, their not gonna give me gas money, and they will charge me tax. If gas was still 99 cents a gallon it might...not bother me as much. I also wonder if Newegg will be able to maintain the outstanding level of customer service I've grown to love if it begins expanding with multiple local will call centers. If Newegg has figured out some equation where this will create new jobs, without hurting current ones, keep or exceed their current level of customer service, and not raise prices due to this kind of expansion, then go for it.

I don't know that just having a will call center automatically mean tax will be charged. Another large online retailer/marketplace has several facilities and warehouses here in Indy, but I still don't pay tax when ordering from them.

    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

Newegg just changed their rules... You must bring the credit card that you made the order with, to bring to will call, and without the credit card, you cannot pickup your order.

    THIS IS STUPID!!!

Imagine all the people who buy things for other people, and choose will call for the person to pick it up and enjoy it right away...

Or, a true story, I was building 25 servers for a company, and the company was paying for the parts and for labor... They ordered through Newegg, just like they have done several times before, and I go and pick up the parts usually the same day, or the next day through will call.

Today, they refused my order because I didn't have the (out of state) company's Credit Card!!! When I told the company, they went ballistic, saying "We've ordered through them before, whats the problem??? " They were not happy...

Needless to say, I lost the sale, and probably the company as a good customer... All because of some ignorant corporate executive,  who didn't think this out logically before changing the rules.

    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

    Hi nightdiver,

I apologize you feel this way in regards to our new will call policy. The new policy is one that many retailers use like when you purchasing from an online-only reseller, brick and mortar stores that have a "site to store" option, and even will-call ticket companies. Please understand that these new measures were put in place strictly for security precautions and not to intentionally inconvenience you in any way. If you have any questions or concerns, you are more than welcome to contact me via PM.

We appreciate your feedback and it is being forwarded to our management department for review. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

    -NHM

    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

Nick< I would suggest in cases like that the Identities of both parties be comfirmed by NewEgg and a Waiver to be signed before hand (with a warning that they need to on large will-call orders) so that won't happen again (unless they don't read it).

That way they can varify it that way rather than the physical card because this is bound to happen again, and often.

Ease of use dictates frequency of use....................

    Re: Newegg Survey: Will Call

    NHM,

    Thank you for your response.

First of all, I shop a lot online and have several places (your competitors) where I will call my items. I have never had to present the credit card I used for the purchase... I don't know where you get your information, but it is wrong.

Secondly, when you say "Please understand that these new measures were put in place strictly for security precautions"  I believe it... There was absolutely no thought of inconveniencing your customers, just strictly doing it for the "security" issue...

When I asked to bring a photo copy of the CC with the first 3 sets of numbers blacked out (trying to accommodate your new rule, but still keep my sale) I was told by your manager (Chris) that was not acceptable. Then when I asked to speak with his supervisor, this is what he said:

Bill : Let me talk to your supervisor

Chris:  You are currently speaking  to the Supervisor  in charge of customer service.   While I

understand your frustration no exception will  be made to this  policy regardless of whom you speak

    with.

Bill : I don't think that is true, let  me talk  to your boss please.

Chris: I apologize, however, my manager  is not

currently in the office. If you'd like I can get your contact information and have him give you a

    call.

Bill : Yes have him call me asap. my number  is

    909-XXX-XXXX

I have not heard from him, and do not expect to hear from him, because of the way newegg treats their customers...

I will not shop at Newegg anymore, not just because of this policy, but because of the unyielding stance they take (even with good customers).

    Bill

Where would you feel comfortable picking up your package?

    N/A

It would be cool if you could set up a distro center near the centers where USPS hands the packages to the APO system. Even better, you could just drop the packages off there and maybe reduce those ridiculous USPS shipping prices some. That would also cut about a week or more off the shipping time.
