Asus happens to be booming right now as well..and they happen to as well make their own monitors

as for quality i wouldnt say they are 100% fantastic..but they are just as good as samsung monitors rated at the same specs and lg as well.. "some" of their models may not seem as sturdy as some samsungs and lg panels.. but most happen to be top notch. they are also inexpensive which makes some people instantly turn away from them as they think the quality is bad.. but they are indeed top notch monitors and a brand to definantly keep in mind

ASUS, like HP and Dell, do not make their own LCD panels. For example, ASUS M6 WXGA notebooks typically use LG panels, but keep in mind that doesn't apply to all ASUS LCDs. Many of their mainstream monitors have CMO panels. Even the G1 has a CMO panel. The problem with advising people to purchase a brand like ASUS is that peoples' experiences will vary depending on the model being purchased, as they use many different manufacturers.

as for laptop screens i have no idea... but i read somewhere in a hidden spot on their website that they make "most" of their monitors , and the ones that arent made by them are"usually" made by a leading brand such as LG and samsung.. i cant seem to find the exact quote ...but im sure of it that i was skimming through their website and found a place where it said this

If you can find me that quote and show me, I'd love to see it, but to date I've opened up plenty of ASUS LCD monitors and did not find a single panel to be manufactured by ASUS. Search around on the web and you'll find the same answers from other people. When you buy a Samsung or an LG, you get a Samsung or LG panel, so you always know what you're getting.

Samsung and LG are great brands, and they are very popular because people make them popular.  People on forums claim "this is the best" then so and so goes out and buys "this".  BenQ is a great brand, great quality, and Hanns-G is as well.  I would put them right up there but I think its their actual Name that holds them back.

For reference, BenQ uses AUO (AU Optronics) panels. AUO is the worlds #3 largest TFT panel manufacturer, trailing behind Samsung and LG-Philips.

I personally can't comment on BenQ's panels as I haven't used them much, so in cases like this I'd generally recommend to look exactly what type of panel is being used.

I recently found another article that explains TFT panel types. Yes, Wiki isn't always 100% accurate, but its a decent reference point for understanding part of the technologies:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD

Before purchasing any LCD screen, I would first do some research to find out exactly what type of panel you're buying.
