Hugs and kisses for NewEgg's efforts, Roddy.

In a masculine, manly kind of way, of course...

    NoWayOut,

I apologize for my previous behavior in the referenced post and won't contest any of those points, except to say that deferring blame was not my intent, spelling out the situation (for a specific user), was.

I hope Newegg solves the current issues fairly to your personal satisfaction.

I won't be back in the forum, at user request, to contest any further points of conflict. And hope you will accept me sincere and heartfelt sympathies and being affected by this issue. It sucks, and my contesting details won't make it better. (And as stated earlier, I'm affected as well, though with another vendor who will likely not "make good".)

Thanks for listening to my viewpoints at all, and i'm truly sorry for the misunderstanding.

    CheapAsianGamerGuy:

Are you asking me to leave this discussion, Bigdaddy", because my opinions don't match yours and all the other "angry" users?

Okay then, if that's the case, I will do so.

Thanks for being so open minded.

GamerGuy, I don't think this has anything to do with opinion. I think it's the fact that your are constantly spamming these boards in an insulting manor to the important people here. The Customers!. Your overall attitude of the whole situation is cynical and jaded. I understand that you are a mod on these forums, but you are in no means a god. Let alone, do you have ANY official say in the matter. If it wasn't for RoddyR giving us updates this thread would be nothing more then you vs. the angry customers. You have no reason to be so defensive of the situation. People have the right to be angry, however your obvious anger is making NewEgg look worse to new customers/forum users. This is an actual online business forum, not gamefaqs.com. Please take your strange rantings elsewhere. You are not helping anything, you are making things much worse.

If you feel that strongly about my opinions on this matter..

Then I apologize to you personally for coming off that way.

As already stated I'm not contesting any further issues in this thread.

If anyone else has a personal issue they feel must be taken up, please PM me, and I'll reply as such.

I made a purchase using paypal on 11/26/2007 @ 3:38:46 PM thinking I'd would get the 20% as advertised.  Will I get it?

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    RoddyR,

I did state this before but I was expecting it to last all day and had something in mind to buy but did not get the chance because by the time I got home from work (4pm) it was over. I just found out today why it ended sooner then I was told in my email. This is just a thought for your marketing team, they could have another promotion to make up for it (without paypal involvement). I don't think they could offer a 20% or anything like that but something like 5%  off of 1 item perchesed during a 24 hour time pried with a coupon code given to people in the emailing list. If it is 20% hehe I'll be getting a 2,000$ HD ;)  Yes yes I know its not neweggs fault but paypals for a bad terms and conditions write up. This is just something newegg can do and a good time to do it would be a week before Christmas so people have to pay the higher shipping to get it on time lol.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

What if you bought something before the deadline on Monday, but your order was canceled due to low or no stock of the item, then, mysteriously on Wednesday in the AM, or mabye even earlier, since I didnt check to closely, the same item is back in stock.  So you reorder it, and use PayPal again, thinking the orignal 20% off still applies.  So, am I going to end up on the short end of the stick, or is newegg going to come clean on situations like this.  I think the only reason the order was canceled was to aviod the 20% back offer.

If there is one individual who deserves some love around here, it has to be this guy.

I have much respect for his demeanour and helpfulness.

Can someone who is good with HTML (or even just OK with HTML) help me to place
a "Hit Roddy With Some Love" button and counter on the page?  (It is Google Apps for quickie configuration.)

I would also add a PayPal button so that we can each send him $1, but adding that function would be just a bit ironic.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

Called paypay 27th- They first told me that I qualify because my purchase was made at 12:31 PM PST and the deal ended at 4 PM PST by Newegg. But then they said since Newegg didn't process my purchase until 4:30 PM PST, I didn't qualify. I told them about the 20% icon that I saw but they didn't care and blamed everything on Newegg.

Contacted Newegg 27th- They told me that the deal ended at 12:30 PM PST and since my purchase was made at 12:31 PM PST, I didn't qualify. Also told them about the 20% icon but they didn't care.

And now the new cut-off time is 2:30 PM PST?  But I guess it doesn't really matter because the purchase wasn't processed until 4:30 PM PST, even though the time of purchase was 12:31 PM PST.

Probably due for a refresh anyway...

    InfamousDX:

    RoddyR:

    Hi all,

I know my posts keep getting buried, but for now these are indeed the facts.  If your order was made prior to the cut-off time which was 2:30pm PST, you need not worry.  You will receive the %20 cash back in your Paypal account sometime before January 31, 2008.

For those of you that fall outside this time period, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL ANSWER.  We are still reviewing the various circumstances regarding this issue.

So again, if your order was placed (not charged) before the 2:30pm PST cut-off, then you are ok.  No need to worry.  For everyone else, PLEASE... with cherries on top.. give us a little more time to see what can be done.

    Thanks.

Sorry for the long quoting here, but might be better that way.

    FYI

I have the official time that the promotion was pulled from a credible source:

    2:30 PM PST

This still does not mean that they won't be doing something to fix this, only that the time is now a FACT. You can ignore anything else you hear until you hear otherwise from an EggStaff or an Uber.

One big question though does 2:30 PM PST represent the time that paypal processed the payment or does it represent the time that the user hit the order submit button?

It should be at the time you hit the order submit button but I will verify for you. Good question.

This has been confirmed. All those who have submitted prior to that time should be OK. I must stress again, this does not mean you are SOL if you didn't. Please be patient.

I called NE CS about this too.  It's not that they don't care, but it's not their promotion.  Yes an icon was on their site, but that's like getting mad at a newspaper for bogus coupons.  Maybe I had a great CS rep to talk to, but she was more than upfront about exactly how the promotion worked.  Paypal supplies only so much funds ("while supplies last" ring a bell?) and once used, that's it.  None of this means that either company doesn't care of it's customers, but people are too quick to raise their nose in this situation just because they didn't get an answer right then and there.

I'm sure Newegg will take care of it's customer's, but (directed to all customer who feel wronged by Newegg) people need to allow them time to sort out the mess.  Nothing happens at the snap of a finger, even in the internet age.  Either Paypal will step up or Newegg will do it themselves (as they do time and time and time and time again).  Allow them to get a range on the customers who've been affected, send the info to Paypal, analyze it between the two of them and come up with a deal to attempt to satisfy their customers.

I'll be sitting by waiting for the new thread that is titled "Newegg & PayPal: Egg proves it's superiority once again and takes care of business!" :)

    Cheers!

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

glad I stayed home sicker then a dog on Monday, on a side note its funny to see so many mainly mad at newegg and not passing much of the blame off on paypal, sure newegg handled it wrong and should have had a quicker way to notify people that it had ended, that is if paypal would actually tell newegg. The big trouble maker here is paypal and not being more specific with the terms of the deal, instead they skipped the terms and just added in the legal "We can do what we want when we want so screw you." I may remind you paypal has been in trouble with its customers in the past time after time, if you want to do yourself a favor get your rebate then cancel your paypal account and urge others to do the same. If newegg has any common sense they will stop doing business with paypal before their screw ups seriously start hurting their bottom line, there are plenty of new online payment companies out there now a days so it shouldn't hurt sales to find a new more reliable one.
