Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    CheapAsianGamerGuy:

Okay, to avoid a lengthy recap and get right to it, I said that people who got to cancel their orders without penalty after finding out about the promo expiration obviously did not want the items they ordered at the set prices, if the rebates were not applicable. THAT'S IT.

How the hell to do you come off accusing me of "telling people whether they want something or not" from that? I made a inferred personal conclusion based on their ACTIONS. I'm not TELLING anyone they when or what or how to want or buy. So get off it already.

I am not ACCUSING anyone of being at fault when I pasted the exact promo terms, and *MY* interpretations of the terms. I read them during release, felt uncomfortable with them and waited, and by the time it was clarified, the promo was over and I missed out. To some of you that means I'm due some type of compensation, but to me it means just that - I missed out. I still placed an order that night or things I wanted anyway, with no expectation of a promo (so I didn't use paypal).

Now that that's clear, I can see see your anger and frustration, but trying to "muzzle" me by associating my comments with Newegg and trying to get Newegg staff to "shut me up" by claiming my statements are inflammatory is UNFAIR to all non-Newegg staff who have a opinion DIFFERENT from yours.

To be perfectly blunt, all the users here who have been "defensive" about Newegg can quite honestly say that all of YOUR posts are "inflaming" us.

I (and other USERS) don't *HAVE* to let Newegg take it from here, Newegg can speak for themselves when they are ready to. We *DO* however have a perfectly valid RIGHT to express our personal OPINIONS here just as you are.

So we can snipe at each other endlessly - Or you can get off your high horse and answer the question I've posted about 10 times...

How do you think Newegg can be fair to the affected users and FIX this issue, NoWayOut?

This is a NewEgg forum, not a government facility or a public demonstration. There are no "rights" here.

Let it go, CAGG. You're all over the place and making more strawman arguments as you go. You're not worth the time. Clearly it's just way over your head.

I have answered your question about what NewEgg should do. You can keep asking it over and over all you want, but you're not worth re-answering questions for over and over.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

You all think you have it bad I didnt even get to order anything because by the time I got home from work it was over and I had an idea of what I wanted to buy too. I didnt even find out why it ended sooner then what my email stated tell today lol. I didnt read all 22 pages of this but how much money did Pay monster give for this promo? 10,000$? Its a little lame that is was only 50$ per order I should have guessed that its would have a max for all newegg orders but it didnt say it so I didnt think about it. Thats life I guess I missed out on saving 50 bucks.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

Everyone Slow your Roll, just for a second.

When newegg has a resolution they do not need to pay out on it till Jan 31 of 2008 like the original contract stated from paypal.  But they are not obligated to pay out anything since the contract between you and paypal has a subsequet agreement between paypal and newegg.

Fact is your contract is with paypal when you conduct a transaction using that service, they temporarily spot the funds assuming you have balances in your account, then they wire to whom you have asked them to wire.  Your actual contract is with paypal, I thought this was odd, but I checked into to it and that is correct.

Now I think we should both applaud and be critical of the way things went, but we should realize this was a situation where paypal told newegg sorry your funds are gone, right in the middle of a promotion, they pulled the rug from newegg, which subsequently looked like the egg pulled it from everyone else. Thats like saying jimmy who started a fire which spread to my house and eventually caught your house on fire. Then coming back to me and being pi$$ed at me for having my house catch fire, problem is jimmy started the fire.

Just be thankful newegg is doing anything at all, and dont rush them, doing so may actually hurt the final result.

Be thankful its the freaking holidays!

This IS an open public forum, and people are free to express their opinions. So stop trying to suppress mine, I've never ONCE suggested people should not express theirs (you included.) If Newegg truly wanted to clamp down on negative publicity they would just delete/lock the threads, no? Discourse about this controversy is welcome. The existence of this thread is proof positive of that. I'm sorry I missed your earlier answer, it's apparently up there in the morass.

I *have* let it go, NoWayOut, YOU'RE the one clinging to replies with the key (demeaning) words "strawman arguement", "over your head" etc etc etc.

I've not ONCE used terms like that.

So, you wanna stop clickng reply accusing me of stuff, and I'll stop clicking reply to refute those claims, it's that simple.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this one

Know what , after this and many other failed attempts , seriously newegg has lost my orders. and I usually order everything from them for pc's. Heck I even ordered a lcd tv from them.

I have continually had issues with rebates , products coming doa and having to be returned to the vendors, and just bad stuff like this "sale" I was purchasing a scsi card and would have saved almost $40, forget it ill go search goole products for now on , it's about the same quality at this point.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

This forum has been a great help to me over the past few days, as I would have not known about this Paypal/Newegg fiasco without it.  Likewise, I would have not know about this forum without this fiasco.  I have been wanting to upgrade my computer the last few months, and this "promotion" was the fuse that made me pull the trigger.  $50 is quite a lot to me, and I would not have purchased the items without the discount.

By the time I learned about this whole thing, my parts had already shipped and are due to arrive tomorrow.  I have been a customer of Newegg's for many years and in all honesty, I will stay that way.  They have always come through with prompt and professional resolutions when I had issues in the past, going above and beyond what any other e-tailer would have.  As I ordered later in the day, I hope they uphold the offer to all orders made on Monday, not just til 2:30pm.

    TempestKing:

    TempestKing  has  written . . .

When newegg has a resolution they do not need to pay out on it till Jan 31 of 2008 like the original contract stated from paypal.

The above sentence is correct and logical.

    TempestKing:

But they are not obligated to pay out anything since the contract between you and paypal has a subsequent agreement between paypal and newegg.

Fact is your contract is with paypal when you conduct a transaction using that service, they temporarily spot the funds assuming you have balances in your account, then they wire to whom you have asked them to wire.  Your actual contract is with paypal, I thought this was odd, but I checked into to it and that is correct.

Unfortunately, the remaining sentences are full of chopped bologna.  By extension, I write a check to my neighbor's son for cleaning out my chicken coupe.  He goes to the bank (his bank) after 2:00 PM the day of, and cashes his check.  His bank pays him cash.  The next morning I discover that I am very unsatisfied with the state of my chicken coupe - that bozo, my neighbor's son, has tipped over a carton of rotten Eggs and it's a real mess.   So I call up the bank manager at *his* bank.  After all, they spotted him their money when they cashed that check for him.  I demand from that bank manager to get a cleaning crew over to my place right away.  He should not have allowed that check to be cashed, that bank manager!!

My neighbor's son is off the hook.
    Right?

This is the logic which is presented here.  Would you please name the State in the Union where the retailer is not obligated to meet the arrangements of a contractual purchase in which they acted as seller?

    Malarkey ...

    TempestKing:

Now I think we should both applaud and be critical of the way things went, but we should realize this was a situation where paypal told newegg sorry your funds are gone, right in the middle of a promotion, they pulled the rug from newegg, which subsequently looked like the egg pulled it from everyone else.

Like every other merchant participant in the PayPal cyber monday Eggstravaganza, NewEgg knew the limits of their promotion to the dollar and cent.  They simply bungled their own handling of a deal they had made with PayPal.  I've seen a lot of garr-baage coming from various posters on these forums, but this myth of "rug pulled out from under them" is one which never could float on egg yoke white.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

Problem Egg, in your hypothetical you contracted with the boy not the bank. Just as my hypo suggests jimmy was at fault not me.

With paypal you contract with them.

With a bank account you you contract with them, they hold, spot and clear your money just like paypal.

Everyone in the banking industry knows paypal is bad business(for the customers), and disputes are impossible with them because of their disclosures.  You do in fact contract with them.

Just FYI if anyone feels they were skrewed, they could have went to their institution 24 hours after the transaction and asked for a "stop pay". Problem solved no one skrewed.

Well here we are having to correct you yet again. This is a privately owned forum. Only the owner(s) possess any "rights" here. End of story. Since you've demonstrated yourself to be a stickler for fine print, you should probably educate yourself on the actual freedoms and limitations granted to you under the first amendment. Until Congress possesses control of Eggxpert, your rhetoric about "rights" is false. Any access to this forum is a privilege granted to you by the owners, nothing more.

If you want to talk about being demeaning, you've blamed the gods for slow cascading servers, blamed customers for shopping on Cyber Monday in the first place, blamed customers for not staying up all night, inferred that "limited supplies" means marketing funds... and this is just up to page 4 or 5 of this thread. You weren't worth the effort to recap that much, but I'm not going to bother with the other ten. These things are nothing short of insulting to the customers' intelligence. That you believe them yourself is bad enough.

As much as I know you're hardcore about defending yourself, you can't. You will talk to convince yourself. It's ultimately a waste of time. But since it is your time to waste, knock yourself out. It's your "privilege" to do that. ;)

I'm gonna go pop some popcorn and catch up on Tivo.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

Hi all. I too have no idea if I will be receiving my discount.  It would be nice if Newegg or PayPal could at least let us know IF we will get the discount, based on time of order or order # or something.  An official announcement would be appreciated.  I stumbled on this forum after a friend of mine asked if  he could combine orders and was told that the promotion was over.  This was minutes after I had placed my order!

I've seen so many conflicting statements from both Newegg and PayPal.  Newegg keeps reiterating that the promotion lasted "while supplies last."  But if you read PayPal's terms and conditions, it clearly says that the offer is valid as long as the merchant's website says it is, and Newegg still had their ad up until well after I made my order.

I just hope we at least get an honest answer regarding all of this!

Here's where I have an issue with that. At the time of my order at 2:40 PST Newegg's website still showed this as a valid promotion.  When I went to check out, the gold paypal logo indicated that the 20% promotion was valid, and when I chose my funding source for paypal it listed the 20% promotion.

Dang, that guy missed getting his rebate by less than 10 minutes, according to the report on here that 2:30 PST is the firm and factual cutoff.

I am sure however that he won't mind how NewEgg has handled this whole thing, and that he'll continue to do all of his tech shopping at the egg.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    root:

FACT: 2:30 PM PST the promotion was pulled.

FACT: If you had Submitted your order before then you are 100% safe.

FACT: Newegg and Paypal have been meeting together discussing this issue due to the outcry from it's customers.

    Hi all,

I know my posts keep getting buried, but for now these are indeed the facts.  If your order was made prior to the cut-off time which was 2:30pm PST, you need not worry.  You will receive the %20 cash back in your Paypal account sometime before January 31, 2008.

For those of you that fall outside this time period, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL ANSWER.  We are still reviewing the various circumstances regarding this issue.

So again, if your order was placed (not charged) before the 2:30pm PST cut-off, then you are ok.  No need to worry.  For everyone else, PLEASE... with cherries on top.. give us a little more time to see what can be done.

    Thanks.

    1. Yes, they grant us the privilege.

    2. I didn't say you blamed users for slow servers.

    3. "...do what the hard-core shoppers did. Stay up ALL NIGHT getting your orders in before it runs out."

This was clearly a snafu. Telling people they should have stayed up all night, after the fact, in the midst of their snafu, is deferring blame. Their not staying up all night had nothing to do with it. That is blaming them whether you say it overtly or not.

    4. I've never heard of "limited supplies" ever having anything to do with marketing funds before. And "limited funds" certainly wasn't in the fine print. But whatever. Really.

    5. "...what you're saying is, you ... went for the deal knowing you were not among "the first" to try to take advantage of it ... *ON WHAT MOST PEOPLE AGREE IS THE BUSIEST INTERNET SHOPPING DAY OF THE YEAR.* Sounds logical to me."

Again deferring blame, and a jab at the customer with that "sounds logical" bit. Since it was a snafu, the problem had nothing to do with the customer's shopping time, and certainly had nothing to do with the customer's logic.

    6. The "stay off the forums" bit was awesome. :-) All I've done is called you out on your logic in this thread, just as others have. Terms like "strawman arguments" are not personal attacks.

    Now back to Tivo.
