have you seen our stats, not too shabby considering the team is not that old compared to other and not that large.

487 of 116453 we are in the top 1% of teams but I guess we could go higher

I was checking the stats on folding, is there way to get more points?  My ps3 can only do so much, my pc doesn't seem to earn me points any idea?

The ps3 processes the work units much faster than a normal pc. It may take a few days for your pc to finish a single work unit were as your ps3 probably does a few a day. If you are folding on a slow machine or you do not leave your computer running 24/7 you may want to select the option to only accept work units without a deadline. From what I understand work units sent in after the deadline earn no points.

The PS3 workunits are totally different and have been sized for their target audience.. People don't run a PS3 all day long like they do their PC and so the workunits are smaller and meant to be completed within hours..  The SMP client for multi-core CPUs has much larger workunits and the reward is greater.. Indeed a quad-core Q6600 can do more science than the PS3 can. But a dedicated Q6600 build is going to be more costly..  You really do get what you pay for in the end..

If you're going to game, then go ahead and get a great graphics card to run folding@home on in the meantime. If it's a dedicated folding box, then'll likely be better loading up with quad-cores.

Also, as far as I know, the deadline less workunits have been unavailable for years.  If you enable it, you will get no workunits. It's going to be removed from the next console client (I think it's already gone from the Beta).

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

Has anyone install the folding@home client 5.91 correctly?  I can't seem to get it to run, I did read the FAQ but isn't enough detail for the setup.

Here is my problem during step 2 or the install.bat file:

account <domain\user> [Jia-pc\Jia]: so here i just put my acct username
    password: xxxxxx

then i got this message saying:

Credentials for <Jia> rejected connecting to Jia-PC
aborting: unable to connect to Jia-pc

    any clues?

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

For the smp client you need to have a windows login and password. Its pretty lame, thats why I just run 4 instances of folding@home 5.04

"The username and password you provide for mpiexec should be your Windows login that you will run the client under. This is used for authentication on your local machine. It is cached in encrypted form in your Registry and is not transmitted to FAH servers. And if you change your password, you will need to run install.bat again."

Appreciate your help Kardon, just too much problem for the SMP setup I just stick with my 5.04 client version as well.

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

Not a problem it was frustrating me for while too. Not sure why they had to make it that way, kind of a pain.

its is quirky but when you get the SMP cranking it turns in great scores, and I'm only on a dual core!

Too lazy to read the whole thread, but in case this hasn't been mentioned:

Have you thought about badges for Folding members?  That's how I first learned about folding.  This one forum has these sharp looking badges, with the DNA strand image (i think) for the team members.  Maybe you could link it somewhere good, too.

    Fold.

Like this idea, I think in Extremesystem forum got some sort of ranking system by how many points you have earn and giving out like our forum post counts ranking.

I like that idea. You should post it here http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/321375.aspx. HogHauler was trying to start something but I don't think we've had enough input yet to attract the attention of the eggstaff.

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

I should be on the team now, I believe, but im not sure i picked the right customization.  I picked the 5.04 version if that makes a difference. But its been 10 min and not one step completed, is that normal?

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

F@H 5.04 version is make for single core cpu like my p4.  If you have a dual core or quad core you should try the SMP client 5.91 or 5.92 version, those will used the cpu ability and the score is a lot higher too.

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

10 mins and no steps completed is fine, they take a long time. let it run over night and see what happens.

For me 5.04 turns about the same points per day when I run 4 instances (one on each core) as the smp client.

prtuc2 did you find a way to run smp without creating a user account in windows or did you just make one?
