I'm freakin old. (30.5) I've always wondered what the average age of most gamers are out there. Is gaming something that's mostly stuck with my generation or am I just old and immature?

Its not immature at all. Its our generation. I got my mother playing Dead or Alive on my xbox and she loves it (btw she is over 40). Gaming is just like an escape capsule type of thing. it gets us out of the big world and into a smaller world where we can forgot about stuff. I just turned 20 and I still play games like CS, CS:S and my PS2 and my xbox. I imagine I will be for year to come too. Its great stress relief.

22.7 here!!! But I love to laugh at some parents trying to play on the wii and other things that are interesting enough to grab their attention. As far as being too old for games and electronics; Is such a thing possible?!? I highly doubt it.

I don't have kids yet, but my wife and I want to plan in the next year or so. I want them to come first, but I'm afraid that I have an addiction and I would have an internal struggle with this. I don't forsee me not playing games, ever. I'll play until I can't physically play anymore.
Anyone able to balance gaming and family well?
If it's there and you can see it — it's real. If it's not there and you can see it — it's virtual. If it's there and you can't see it — it's transparent. If it's not there and you can't see it — you erased it !

I have similar feelings. My wife wants kids. I don't because I'd rather have time to game. When the time comes and she gets pregnant I'll just stop gaming altogether.

Hello I'm 49 and am currently playing Obilvion and the expansion packs on the 360, and FF XII on the psx2. My wife is 46 and is currently playing FF XII on the psx3. Pretty much have every rpg ever released on every platform since the nes days....

I just turned 28, and I feel young compared to most of the gamers I know. I think these lawmakers who keep pushing the bills on game ratings would be surprised if they finally woke up and realized the majority of gamers are not little kids.
In response to Jukebox360's post: Kids add joy to your life, they don't take it away :) Just a little less play time, but it's worth it!
As for me, I'll be gaming until the day I die, and eagerly look forward to retirement so I can have more gametime.

25 going on 12. I still hold much love for the classics, such as Sim City 2k, Aces of the Pacific, and my stack of mostly functional NES boxes :) Whiiiich also has left me in no big rush to upgrade my Athlon 2600+ to something in the x2 5000+ range Soon, though.

37 The first time I played a MP game was Doom via modem to modem connection in '94. I still play games today, but reaction times (reflexes) slow with age so I went from being one fo the best Quake II players in the world to "some guy that always dies quickly" in todays first person shooters. :)

I'm actually quite surprised myself. I was sure that most of the people on this group would be younger than me. On the otherhand, gaming started with my generation so I would expect a lot of older people to be gamers.
I also agree with the idea that gaming is a great form of entertainment. Some people enjoy watching tv. My wife doesn't understand why I would rather play a good long Q3A CTF skirmish online VS. watch tv with her. Gaming is way more exciting in my opinion. I do enjoy the news or a good Discovery Channel show now and again though.

I am 25 right now and turning 26 in July. This forum needs to include a poll feature.
