Update: Netflix|WGA|TV|RIP

Published 22 January 08 09:49 PM | root

Friend me.

I've just watched 2 more movies that I still need to review ("War" and "Lucky You") but first WGA.

Looks like because of the Directors Guild Association's (DGA)  recent pending deal with AMPTP (you know, that group that's against WGA), WGA (that's the writers guild) is thinking about taking up talks again. Rumor has it, this week they could be getting back to talks (Reportedly today they would but no word yet on if they did or didn't).

Speaking of WGA, I just finished watching Cane, a CBS series thats a little old but pretty good drama. Has enough "family mafia" flare to it to peek my interest. It's well worth watching the thirteen episodes.

And speaking of TV shows (you liking my transitioning skillzz0rz?), I just got hooked into the new Terminator series. Whoa. Gotta give props to the writer. And I love the Serenity/Firefly hottie. And if you don't know who I'm talking about, shame on you. I take your geek card away.

No really. Shame on you.

If you are one of those few who have never seen both movie/tv shows, then the only way to get back into my good graces (and earn back your geek card) is to bribe me with a new shirt. You gotta admit, that is aw3som3.

On a serious note, I'd like everyone to send their prayers to the family of Heath Ledger. May you Rest In Peace.

Until I get less serious,

#

I know who you're talkin' about, but I'm still not watching Terminator =) I already waste enough time w/o knowing exactly where it goes.

Can I just send you one of these?

Heres some coorsepondance between myself (new member) and NewEgg so called customer service.

I appreciate your answering my mail, but unfortunetly you are supposed to be customer service and since I didn't know who else to ask, you could have. Ergo, "service".  I'll go to tiger direct now and see if they can help me and I'll be sure and show them this letter.   Have a good day.    clif

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

Unfortunately we are not technically trained so we are unable to make any recommendations or assist with compatibility. If there is a specific manufacturer you have in mind you may want to contact them directly to recommend a model.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit our FAQs page. If you still need assistance, please feel free to email me directly and I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you,

Maribel Ramirez

Message: My brother recommended you. 1. I have an HP presario AMD sempron 3200 1.8 ghz 448 megs ram. I want to buy 1 gig of ram from you, but I'm not sure which type to get. Not the brand but the type its self (2700, 3200 whatever) I'm pretty dumb. Does the 3200 represent the type of ram I need? If not, which types will this use ? Thanking you in advance..........clif

Its a shame I had to join a blog in order to discuss customer service, but thats exactly what I had to do. I'm sure the rest of you have no problems but I just want to let you know that thier customer service, or lack there of, is crappy and I'll give this message time to show up, then I'll quit and go on to tiger direct.

Clif:

My apologies for any confusion. However, Maribel is entirely correct. Newegg is a reseller and does not manufacture any items - we do not have the technical training to advise any customers as to compatibility or other tech info. Thus, Newegg CS handles order concerns and the like, not tech support. Analogy: one does not expect Amazon or Borders employees to personally review and recommend books for customers upon request.

Were we not customer focused or a moral company, we would have no qualms about pointing you in the direction of costly items that may or may not be best suited for you or always telling you what you want to hear. However, we do not wish to misinform anyone, and every customer is valued. The best source of advice is always the item manufacturer(s); you can also post a forum topic on EggXpert where fellow community members and Newegg shoppers may help you out.

If you have further issues, please post in the Forum section and not a random community Blog post. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. Further unrelated comments in this Blog post may be removed by the Blog author. Thank you,

- auden

About root

I currently live in Plano, Texas and work at an IT outsourcing company as a SAN Storage Administrator. You can say I'm one of those 'just out of college kids'.

Hobbies: writing, computer building, reading (usually computer books but I get around to SciFi/Fantasy once in a while), movies/tv, bars, IT security, and of course Eggxpert.

Not much of a Myspace/Facebook kind of guy. My top (dot com) sites I visit are Gmail, Eggxpert, Writing, and Digg.

In short, I'm just another guy with a computer and an internet connection.
