MP3 Player used as USB Flash Drive?!

Such a doubt didn’t come into my mind before accompanying my friend to the shop for a new MP3 player. He mentioned something I used to take for granted and then I forwarded them to you guys. :-)

Is it appropriate or beneficial to use MP3 player as USB flash drive? Worth a thought?!

For me, as the means of storage, MP3 player always comes my first choice and I’d never think of buying a USB flash drive deliberately to store files. 'Cause anyway all mp3 players are just fancy flash drives. The only advancement from the flash drive: availability to those audio files. All MP3 players from iPods to irivers to zunes can be used as a flash drive.

But then what’s USB hard drive for? No need to exist? Well, as Hegelian states, existence has its reason. Anyway, it’s the special device of data storage, so the main function is the storage, while Mp3 player mainly functions audio playing. So with the each side emphasis, problem may arise when the latter is used as the previous one. Well…. it did occur to my friend who had his some files lost coz of constant transfer and utilization in different public PCs. “giggle”

So would you desire to get USB Flash Drive deliberately for the storage and have Mp3 player for the entertainment? Anyway, relatively speaking, USB hard drive always costs less than Mp3 player… so why not keep them separately and obtain their full function?

Hehe, just got such a hint from my friend, but still doubt the future of the USB flash drive….

So Close to death

The following is my random and complicated thought about this devastating earthquake in SiChuan which almost affected the whole China. Maybe not a nice writing, but it's my feeling that i wanna record to remind myself of once so closing to death.

That day I had the strongly feeling that death was so close to me.

At that right time, my mind was a complete blank, not knowing what to do;

just seeing the ceiling of my room shaking, then my bed, the window, the wall....

Until an outcry of "earthquake" woke me

But the startlingness led my roommate and me to the top of the building instead of the ground.

Fortunately the shaking kindly stopped when we hurried to the top.

However, at that right minute, I did feel death was beside me so closely.

Seemed the devil just made fun of me, but not to my compatriots in SiChuan.

Watching the news each day, Seeing the increasing death toll every minute,

And reading the touching reports about the lifesavers and the saved,

My heart was aching and my tears were stinging for those who had passed away in a blink.

And also for those who were still buried in the relics.

Moved by the teacher's warm gesture of firmly protecting his pupils,

Touched by the soldier’s kneeling position, crying "I can save one more!",

Inspired by the song from children in the relics, comforting their parents "we can hold on!"

Well, this terrible tragedy left me lots of lots of thoughts....

Life is so transitory and insecure.

Nobody can guarantee what's going on next minute.

The only thing you can do now is to cherish your life and love everyone beside you.

Live it today as it's the last day of your life.

PS: That catastrophic earthquake cost countless lives in SiChuan. Lots of buildings and towns were totally destroyed. Tons of people became homeless and children became orphans. The city which used to the paradise turned to be a hell on earth. "Sigh" China suffered so much this year, but believe she will stand out with the firm solidarity of the whole Chinese people. Prayer for SiChuan and China.

Spring Trip to Yuntai Mountain with All Staffs

Well, alas, in the afternoon of 30, March, we got to the destination-Yuntai Mountain, a national 5A Scenic Spot as well as a world geopark located in Henan Province (in the east of my city). Of course, it’s a quite beautiful and attractive natural-view site, which we are all looking forward to. After more than 6 hour bus drive and not so delicious lunch, we began to start out.

(Hah...take a photo together with all Xi'an egg staffs! Huh..where is me?! Have a guess?! )

Coz it’s still march, this great mountain hasn’t been covered with green, but the spring breath is on the way. True, as the name matches the reality, we saw tons of peaks, springs, and waterfalls….have to admit...It’s quite splendid!! ” whoa…whoa…”that’s the only word we can utter showing our enjoy and appreciation of such natural wonder. Of course, one more thing we kept doing was taking photos here and there as the guide introduced the story of each site. The following interesting scenes are what I'd love to share with u guys. Hope u like

Scene 1: Shadowboxing performance per hour! And luckily we grasped that exact time and enjoyed a nice show. (wow, Chinese Kung Fu)

Scene 2: Anything special with the weird stone?! The character on it means “longevity”. As local ppl say, as long as u touch this stone, u will be blessed with a long, safe and peaceful life! I did do it, so longevity would belong to me...Ah

Quite similar with another scene named Long Life Spring. It’s said once u drink that spring, u will also be blessed with a long healthy life. So to continue this good wish, I bottled long life spring and took back for my family.

Scene 3: See…why are we washing our hands?! As Xiyan Pool story goes, washing hands in this pool, u will easily have access to those celebrated and distinguished universities as u wish. Besides, u will be able to manage a harmonious family and a promising career henceforward. Nice…isn’t it? (Now u can pick me out from so many ppl)

Scene 4: Be observed… what does it look like?! …..Monkey right?!

Scene 5: C’mon…ouch…the monkey was unwilling to pay any attention to us.

Scene 6: I can breathe the spring air, beautiful peach blossom!

Scene 7: As folklore says, this not so attractive stone stands for Chinese indomitable spirit. When u pass it by, feel its rich cultural symbolization with ur gentle touch.

Scene 8: Wow…we are in the bottom of this fantastic mountain. Cool…

…well..there are really lots of beautiful sceneries to viewsight. All the above are my favorites! Wish u like 2. OK…so much for this blog. I’d like to end it up with a quite famous poem concerning this great mountain. (Actually, Yuntai Mountain is also famous for that great poet whose poems always win universal praise. This poem named “Thinking of My Brother on Mountain-climbing Day” was right done in Yuntai Mountain).

Ps: A dogwood spray carried on mountain-climbing day, that is, the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, was supposed to drive away evil spirits.

Buried treasure—Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses

Have u got any idea why there are so many ghouls (ppl who rob tombs) in my city? Do u know what’s the nickname of Xi’an City? How much do u know about China? Ok, let’s have a check and try to find answers in the blog.

As we see, a city which desires to be attractive must have its own and unique characteristic. And my hometown definitely does have such one, a quite influential and representational stuff—Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, the eighth wonder of the world. It’s the biggest royal tomb in China with tons of buried treasures and sacrificial objects accompanied the emperor (Qin Shi Huang, Chinese first Emperor) in his after life. (Xi’an which used to be the capital of 13 dynasties with 3100 year’s development has numerous big or small underground tombs, so some ppl call Xi’an a tomb city). This buried treasure was finally discovered in the spring of 1974.

“We were digging a well. When we reached a depth of four meters, we found a clay man in the pit. Its head, body, arms and legs had been broken. We took them out of the pit and handed them to the authorities,” said Villagers who discovered the terracotta warriors and horses.

Therefore, it naturally becomes the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century.

The life-size figures always make ppl doubt: did the emperor bury his alive soldiers? Hah…of course not. They are JUST replicas of what the imperial guard should look like in those days of pomp and vigor. Archaeologists and historians have verified it's a mythical and boundless underground world. In the burial chamber, magnificent palace buildings were put up, the universe, the starry sky and the geographical features were imitated, and a large quantity of mercury was filled in to represent rivers, lakes and seas. That's to say, lots of mystical discoveries are still in store, which we can’t predict yet.

Don’t know whether u guys have seen the movie “Myth” by Jackie Chen, which also backgrounds terracotta warriors and horses. It’s a great film. If u haven’t yet watched it, go ahead and have a look.
