Everywhere you turn people are going green. It's one of the hippest things to say and do.
"I drive a Toyota Prius."
"We only buy organic."
"Recycled paper is just as good."
But really, does it make that much of a difference?
Did you know?
- Glass never wears out- it can be recycled forever. We save over a ton of resources for every ton of glass recycled -- 1,330 lbs of sand, 433 lbs of soda ash, 433 lbs of limestone and 151 lbs of feldspar.
- For every ton of paper recycled, we reduce air pollution by 60 lbs.
- Aluminum can recycling saves 95% of the energy needed to make aluminum from bauxite ore.

I'll admit, I'm a recycler. But I do it more for a, "Hey, at least I'll have a few extra bucks when I need it, " kinda girl. Don't get me wrong. I know about the excess resources we expend. (I saw The Human Footprint) I have friends that are borderline flower power kids and they snarl at me anytime they see me buy my daily dose of Aquafina. What- I'm human, I surcumb to guilty pleasures once in a while.
But what about you?
Do you recycle every bit of scrap?
Know of anyone that would go so far as to dig in public trash cans?
Or do you think, eh - I won't be around long enough to see the world destroy itself, why should I care?
We want to know!
