I love you more than …

We live with love everyday, family love, heterosexual love, friend love… love is everywhere around us. How much do you love someone? If you face a sentence: I love you more than ____. What will you fill in the blank?

I remember there’s such a story in Grimm's Fairy Tales:

Once upon a time, there was a king with three daughters. One day, he put a question to his daughters coz he wanted to know how much they loved him.

“Dear, I really want to know how much you love me. Pray, tell me.”

The eldest princess answer firstly: “My dear father, I love you more than I love gold and silver.”

The second daughter spoke next: “Dad, I love you more than I love diamonds and pearls, more than rubies and emeralds, or any other gem.”

Then, the king looked at his third, youngest daughter, to whom he gave most of his love.

“Father, I love you more than salt.” The youngest princess spoke simply, quietly.

More than salt?! The king was pleased with the previous two answers since they love him more than such valuable and precious things, but he was quite unhappy with the third reply. He couldn’t believe his youngest daughter had compared him to something so common and coarse as salt. He got so angry that he banished his youngest princess from the kingdom.

The youngest daughter left without saying anything, simply carrying away a small box of salt in her pocket.

There are lots of long versions of this story; the details are different from each one while the endings are the same:

After the youngest princess’s leaving, all the salt disappeared in this kingdom. The king got weaker and weaker day by day. Finally, the youngest princess came back to save his father. She called for broth, sprinkled salt in it, and encouraged her father to eat. The king recovered slowly, after that, until he was well.

After this, the king finally realized that salt's importance came from much more than just making food taste good. Salt is essential to people’s health.

The king never looked down on salt any more, and he knew that his youngest daughter loved him best of all, for when she said “I love you more than salt”, she meant that she loved him more than that which gives life, which is the greatest love indeed.

“Daughter, can you forgive a foolish father?”
“Of course, father. I love you, more than salt” She answered smiley.

Guess how much I love you? Here are also some replies from internet, all kinds of, warm, funny, touching, lovely and confused ones as well. Have a look:

How about you? What is your standard for love? Show me your answer; let us know what you will fill in the blank: I love you more than ___?

BTW, on the first eye seeing this topic, it reminds of this old song, just put it as background here. Hope everyone can find his/her real love.

Five methods to achieve website automatic skip

Website automatic skip means that when users visit certain website, it will automatically redirect to another site. The main function of this redirection is that when the domain name has changed, or some pages on the website has been deleted, users can be directed to other normal websites, so the owner won’t lose visitors.

However, some people begin to use this function to make fraud, cheat the search engine and raise their website rank. A wonderful example is: to make a “bridge page” first, when this bridge page is recorded by search engine and has a relative high rank, they will add automatic skip in this bridge page so that users will be lead to other website that they are not intend to visit.

Here are five common methods to set the website automatic skip, let have a look and see the distinguish abilities of search engines.

First: Automatic redirection by meta refresh.

To add automatic skip code at the meta refresh tag in head area of the website, it can have the website redirect immediately or with latency.

For example: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10;url=http://eggxpert.com/">

In this html code, “10” is the latency skip time, with unit of “second”. If we set the time to “0”, the website will redirect immediately.

“http://eggxpert.com” is the destination address which can be an inside relative path under the same domain name, and also can be an outside website under different domain name. Since search engines can read html automatically, they can also detect this redirection settings. Whether a fraud or not? It mainly depends on the skip time. If it is set to “0”, it will probably be considered at fraud and might be punished. If it has latency time larger than “1” (usually about 3), it will be regarded as normal application.

The Second on --- “Body onload”.

This is to use onload event to appoint “parent.location” to achieve the redirection during loading.

For example: <body onload="parent.location='http://eggxpert.com'">

The same with the previous one, this can be detected by the engine.

The third one: Javascript redirection.

Javascript can achieve the website automatic skip. If we want to let the website redirect immediately, we just need to put the skip code on the head area of the website.

For example, <script language="javascript"> location.replace("http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/default.aspx ") </script>

In this part, “http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/default.aspx” is the redirected destination address. Since the search engine can not analyze javascript, this redirection can not be detected by search engines.

The fourth method: automatic redirection by form

This one is well known by most of us, which is to submit the form content to url address appointed by action parameter, and then the target url will continue to process the received data. With this, we can achieve the website redirection indirectly. Then recombine with javascript, we can submit the forms automatically.

For example, <form name="form1" action= http://www.eggxpert.com/ method="get"> </form> <script language="javascript"> document.form1.submit() </script>

In this part, form 1 can be any name but only to remember that both of them in the code should be the same.

Url address in “action” must be ended with file name, e.g.: both “action= http://eggxpert.com/” and “action=http://eggxpert.com/forum” do not meet the requirement. Method can be either “get” or “post”, but generally, I’d like to use “get” when submit blank forms. As we all know, the spider program in search engine can not fill in forms, so search engines can not detect this redirection.

The last one will be the response redirect or to say server transfer.

Each program has its own redirection, e.g.: asp use response redirect to achieve its jump. Here’s the example: response.redirect “http://eggxpert.com”

The function is that, when asp application run to this code, it will jump to the destination url address immediately. Besides, asp uses server transfer to achieve its jump as well. e.g.: response.redirect "/forum/index.html". We should note that the url address here must be an inside address and it must be ended with a file name.

Both response.redirect and server.transfer can implement the auto redirect. The difference is that the previous one can redirect to either inside or outside url address, while the latter one can only jump to a inside file with the same url address in the address bar.

“server.transfer” has many other advantages as well, and we can find that by searching. Although response.redirect can finish its redirection at the server end, it is still implementing at the client after transferring to html. Therefore, it can be detected by search engines. If it is overused, it will be processed as fraud. To redirect between different website inside the same node, it is better to use server.transfer which won’t be considered as fraud by search engines.

Evolution process of mobile phone

Do u have a mobile phone? This seems to be a stupid question to ask. Some people may have more than one phone for different affairs. Nowadays, mobile phone has already become an indispensable part in our life. We can find all kinds of phones with different designs and functions in the market. From the hulking FM radio telephone to the latest touch-screen Iphone with high High-definition camera, we saw a great changes have taken places mobile phones. But how did wireless communicators developed to what we get today? Here’s a brief clue with pictures:

1.

In 1940, Galvin Manufacturing Corporation (later Motorola) engineers developed   SCR536 portable FM Handie-Talkie, which was widely used in World War II battlefronts.

2.

In 1943, Galvin Manufacturing Corporation designed the world's first portable two-way FM radio, the SCR300 backpack model, for the U.S. Army Signal Corps. This walkie-talkie was 35 pounds weight and it had an effective Operating Range Up To of 10 to 20 miles.

3.

This full automatic mobile phone was developed in Sweden in 1956. Using MTA communicating system, weighting 88 pounds, it was the first dial-type mobile phone without manual control.

4.

In 1969, Mobile Communications Technology was applied to cruise cars and taxis, named “mobileers”. In fact, it was the same with what we called “interphone” today.

5.

By 1973, Motorola demonstrated a prototype DynaTAC (DYNamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage) portable radiotelephone cellular system. The greatest technical development was its low-power and portability.

6.

In 1982, Motorola produced the first portable mobile phone DynaTAC8000X, about 2 pounds weight and the unit price was about $3995. This was an optimization version of the previous one. This first portable mobile phone boasted one hour of talk time and eight hours of standby time, besides, 30 phone numbers can be stored in it. This seems quite common and even backward now, however, at that time, it was really an amazing improvement.

7.

This was the first on-board phones developed by Nokia in 1982. It was 10.5 kg weight and has stereo system installed---A prospective mobile communicator actually.

8.

This one born in 1993 has functions similar to a Palmtop computer, weighing 560g, and was sold at the price of $900. It has all the functions of Beep-Pager, calculator, address list, and electrograph. This phone was produced and marketed by Bellsouth and IBM.

9.

Most people will be more familiar with this one, and maybe some of you still have collection of this one---Motorola's StarTAC. This wearable cellular telephone was the world's smallest and lightest phone at that time (weighed just 3.1 ounces, 88 grams). and its flip design attracted lots of people. It looked pretty cool with such a new designed and small mobile phone at that time.

10.

Nokia 6160, 5.2 inch height and about 168g weight, with monochrome screen, exterior antenna, and this one became the most popular mobile phone of Nokia in 1990s.

11.

This smartphone QCP6035 with 8MB memory card was produced by Kyocera. It is specifically aim at individual users. It was available to customers in 2001, at the price about $500.

12.

The first flip mobile phone with Dual-input methods was published in 2001 as well. It has a 16MB memory, and both of Qwerty keyboard input and handwriting input are available on it.

13.

This one won the reputation of “Best New Product” in 2003.  It was the fist substantial mobile internet prototype. You can browse website, receive & send emails and use IM software with this danger hiptop.

14.

In the year of 2002, Sanyo, together with Sprint, introduced this SCP-5300, which was the first mobile phone with camera. It can take photos of 640*480 pixels. Although we can take photos at millions pixels with most of our mobile phones now, it still a great creativity at that time.

15.

You can say it is either a mobile phone or a game machine. This Nokia N-gage got lots of critiques when it was first introduced in 2003 because of its strange appearance. Some people thought the weird appearance destroyed the beauty of mobile phone, however, it was still popular at that time, especially among youngsters.

16.

Motorola Rokr---released in the year of 2005. It was the first music phone with Apple iTunes software inside. You can store almost 100 songs on the memory card.

17.

Iphone, wikipedia has the most accurate definition: “an internet-connected multimedia smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. with a flush multi-touch screen and a minimal hardware interface”. It was formally introduced in the US on June 29, 2007. Don’t need much introduction about this one, the fact is that innumerability people are crazy and addicts to it.

Re-compartmentalization in Chip market

Because of the financial crisis, the whole IT business becomes depressing as well, including most magnates like Sony, Sega, and Microsoft. Even Intel, will begin to close some factories and lay off employees because of the retrogressive performance. However, AMD --- the other magnate in IT world --- developed its new product continuously while facing the same problem. AMD published series of competitive products in the past year--- from 45 nm Opteron processor which was wildly used by PUMA notebooks, series of new products launched at CES, to the Phenom™ II released in December 2008; Under such an economic circumstance, AMD still released new products according to its original item routing, from which we can see its strong execution ability, and all of these may be a signal that the Chip market share will have a re-compartmentalization.

This seems to be an evidence that AMD took series of actions correctly at the end of last year. Both being an important chip manufacturer, there’s a large disparity between AMD and Intel. In a way, it seems that AMD had no alternative but to simplify their structures and streamline their staff from last year because of the low earning yield; However, from the continuous new products launched by AMD, we seems to know something --- AMD is excellent in marketing strategy. The peeling off makes AMD have stronger resistance during the financial crisis. Without extra burden, AMD got a good chance to get fresh legs. Although some problem still existed, AMD has a better condition than other Opponents. Together with the new launched product, AMD becomes more competitive among the IT business.

Anatomizing this event, we found that the re-compartmentalization of market share for Chips had been accelerated because of the financial crisis. Since Intel and other enterprises have not been recovered from this financial chilly winter, AMD, who has already adjusted its structure, has a good chance to take action from the weakness of market. Taking the recent movements as examples, AMD Launched five new additions to its AMD Phenom™ II processor family recently, which can extend the value and lifecycle of AMD Dragon platform technology. These newcomers include the planet's first 45nm triple-core Phenom™ II CPU and three more quad-core siblings, all of which can operate in either AM2+ or AM3 sockets. These AMD Phenom™ II processors offer more choices and lay the foundation for memory transition; the move signals that AMD continues to enhance the value of the Dragon platform technology to OEM, channel partners and DIY customers, which accords their Customer Focus innovation. At the same time, its marketing strategy becomes quite clear --- to concentrate its energy to occupy the market gap with new products and technologies while Intel dwindled their business; to get hold of the DIY consumers, and attract more technonerds with high cost-performance and powerful expandability Chips.

Any technical innovation needs tests and recognitions from markets and customers, or it will lose its due value. To a brand’s part, it’s the same. Brands come down to an organic relation between enterprises and consumers and it is the image of enterprises for customers. Only competition can bring fresh and make enterprise full of vigor and vitality, and only continuous innovation is the best defence. Financial crisis, brought a chance for AMD and also brought the largest challenge for Intel. What the chip market will be in the future years? Maybe we can get an answer at the end of the year.

Possession in “selfhood”

(One)

How can we say someone possess “selfhood”? Personally, I think there are two dependable symbols.

First is to see whether one has his real interest, that is, his career by which he could settle down and get on with his pursuit; one can devotes all his efforts to this career and find internal happiness and enrichment from it. If so, it shows that one is in the process of self produced consequences. Here “self” means one’s personality---the value of individual life for each one.

The second is to see whether one has his real faith, or to say his own principle of dealing with life. Faith is a spiritual coordinate axes which can prevent him from drifting with the current. If he has, it indicates that he is in the possession in “selfhood”.  Here, “self” means his spirit---a firm core spirit.

Both of the two senses of selfhood are not original owned since we were born; it was a result of continuous choice and creations during our life. Therefore, every one of us should be responsible for our final personalities and characters.

(Two)

How to become yourself? There isn’t an omnipotent or standard answer for this question. The most important thing is that every one should seriously realize the value of “selfhood”. With this consciousness, one can try to find his own answer. With only one chance to live, each one is unique and unrepeatable in the world. Reputation, wealth and knowledge are all external things besides the body, so they are the common things that any one can own, but no one can experience the life for you. If one can seriously realize this, he will understand that the most important thing is to create own feature and savor for his life. Whether your life is significant or not, your unique apperception and insistence to the meaning of your life should be the standard, rather than the exterior success.

(Three)

For lots of people, you can say whatever he is, such as a kind of occupation, a status or even a role, except himself. If one always lives according to others opinions but without his individual thinking; always busy with exterior affairs rather than his inner heart, then we can say he is not himself without doing him any injustice, since from his brain to this heart, you can not find anything that really belong to himself, and he’s only a shadow or tool for others instead of a real person.

(Four)

Jesus said: “What’s the good if one earned the whole world but lose himself” This is what he said after he reveals his status, and it is really freighted with meaning. The real savior is just within ourselves, that is the halcyon, clear and bright selves. This is the divinity on ourselves, if we can hold it, we can almost say that God is present with us; however, if we can’t, and just sink into the world, we will become drifting and muddling and just goes with the flow.

Some customs for Chinese lunar New Year

Just came back from a long holiday---the spring festival vacation, which is one of the most important holidays in China. Each one prepares for this holiday long time before it; we’ve got company annual parties; we’ve got friends gathering and we’ve also got lots of greetings from various ways. Wow, that’s really a busy time, but we all love it! Look, here’s a photo from our company annual party, quite a happy time, right? Lol, let’s share some traditional customs of the Chinese spring festival. BTW, the girl in blue is me...

Spring Festival couplets

Before the spring festival, each family has a new couplets put up outside the door. According to the Wikipedia, couplet is “a pair of lines of verse. It usually consists of two lines that rhyme and have the same meter.” The content on the spring festival couplets usually consists of a good wish or a description of the social background.

In the meanwhilesome people will put up the character “”(means a good fortune) everywhere in the home, such as the door, the wall or even the furniture, by which people yearn towards a happy life in the coming year and show their wish for a wonderful future.

Watch Night

Another important movement is to stay up late or all night on New Year's Eve to welcome the New Year. On the New Year’s Eve, the whole family will get together to have a family reunion dinner which is quite splendid and delicious. After the dinner, people will light the candle or oil lantern and talk about some interesting things to welcome the New Year. Certainly, the candle and oil lantern have been outmoded and people will chat and watch TV instead. Watch Night has the meaning of getting rid of all the evils and diseases so that everything will go well in the New Year.

Lucky money

At the New Year eve, seniors will distribute the prepared lucky money to their children when kids go and wish them a happy new year. It is said that the lucky money can make children get rid of evil things and help their children have a peaceful year. Usually, there are two ways to give the lucky money; one is to pack the money with red paper and give away to children directly; the other is to hide the money under children’s pillow after they fall in sleep. Nowadays, the previous one is much general. This tradition is still popular now, and children usually use the money to buy firecrackers, toys, candy or something else they want. Maybe this is the reason why spring festival is quite popular among children.

Fortune

In Chinese, it is said that the first day of the lunar year is Broom’s birthday, so people can not use broom on this day, otherwise they will sweep their fortune away and get a bad luck. If they have to, people should sweep the floor from outside to inside. Similarly, it is also not forbidden to empty the trash, which means you will encounter a financial setback.

Six coolest cell phones

Talking about the coolest cell phone, most of us will say Nokia N95 on the first thought, and then, might be Sony Ericsson walkman. However, no matter considering from the price, the cost performance, or the special design, we can still find some better ones.

(1)Vertu

One of the most expensive and gorgeous cell phones would be Vertu---a luxurious brand by Nokia. The most expensive one was sold at about € 50000. This type of Vertu is entirely handmade; the screen is made of Sapphire Crystal which has super hardness. Titanium is used as the main material inside the phone; each point under the key is made of top quality materials and can normally work after being pressed for million of times.

(2) Goldvish

However, Vertu is not the most expensive cell phone all over the world. The new phone designed by Goldvish has exceeded Vertu a lot. Its appearance is totally made of Pure Platinum, more than 100 carats of D/E-color and VVS-1 clarity grade Diamond inlayed. As for the function, it also performs better than Vertu, which has Quad band Worldwide GSM coverage /EDGE connection; inside Bluetooth Features; top-level MP3 effect and 2GB storage.

Unfortunately, most people will rarely see on an actual product since this phone will only be produced for reservation and only ten have been produced so far~ It is sold at the price of $1,000,000, however, frankly speaking, it is just a tool for the rich to show off their wealth, who will take a million dollars “jewelry” just for phone calls and short messages?

(3) iPhone 8GB

The previous two styles are a little bit far from reality. From this one, we will show something can be approached in our daily life.

Consequentially, the first one would be iphone. Thousands of testing reports have described its advantages from every aspect. Just like its official website introduced: "with fast 3G wireless technologies, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips". And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser.

Iphone has also got leading place among all the coolest technical merchandises elected by Seattle Time. It is one of the most popular choices among all the brands.

(4) Nokia E90

This one is more popular to business people and cell phone fanciers. Nokia E90 has been paid much attention upon its first show-up in an exhibition in Barcelona. This mode adopted 4 inch, 16M colors TFT screen with 800 x 352 pixels, which performs well in display. The dimension of 132*57*20mm hasn’t too much difference with 9300, but its 210g weight will let you have a better hand feel. Considering form the camera, it has 3.2MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus camera, which can take videos at VGA 30fps level. Nokia E90 contains all the functions that N95 got, including WIFI, Bluetooth, Flash.

(5) Nokia 8800 Sirocco

Nokia 8800 Sirocco is not outstanding for its performance, but it is a high quality cell phone focuses on customer feeling. Like other 8 series phone, this one continues using metal surface. The polishing metal appearance makes the 8800 Sirocco more exalted and gorgeous. No matter holding in hands or using for phone calls, it has an excellent hand feel. The only problem to be mentioned is that it’s easy to have fingerprint on the surface.

(6) Dopod U1000

I think it’s not too exaggerated to call it a cell phone monster or small notebook. How large is Dopod U1000? The answer is that it is so large that the receiver has been removed because it is inconvenience to take it up for a phone call… The designer gives earphone and Bluetooth instead. However, Dopod U1000 is still one of the best performed smart phones. 624MHz Intel PXA270, internal 256 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM, and add ATi chipset W2284 for the first time, which makes a more fluently process on multi-media and graphics. Besides, Dopod U1000 has a 5 inch super large VGA (640*480pixel) screen, handwriting and touch operation supported.

However, cell phones changed so fast and any of it will never be the most attractive one. Unless you are rich enough to buy the Vertu or GoldvishWhen choosing a cell phone, the cost performance is more important to influent my choice. We can not say which one is the best it just depends on your feeling. Which cell phone is your favorite? Or you have any other better one to recommend? Just show your opinion~ Expecting to know more cool phones~

Catfish Effect

“Sardine is one of the favorite food for Spanish people. However, they are so delicate that most of them are maladjusted after being caught from ocean. The native fishermen store them in fish channel and shipped to dock, but most of sardines always died just in a short while.

The most important thing is that the dead ones are unpalatable and always financial failure. If they are still alive when rich the dock, the price will be several times higher than the dead ones.

In order to lengthen their life, the native fishermen tried various methods. Finally, they got a way working fine for this, that is, putting several catfish---the natural enemies of sardines---in the same channel together with sardines. To avoiding being devoured by their natural enemy, the sardines try their best to swim and escape in the channel and keep vigorous vitality. In this way, most of the sardines are still alive when they reach the dock.”

Economically, this was called “Catfish Effect”.

Now, this rule is usually followed by human resource managers. If the staff in a company is always immovable, they will be lack of energy and freshness; as a result, it is quite common for them to have laziness. Especially for senior staff, after long-time staying in the same position, it is more likely for them to be tired and listless. Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to have some “catfish” enjoy in the fixed frame, which will add some tenseness to the company. When the staff found there are some competitors around them, they will have pressure and realize they should speed up, or they will be “killed”.

When pressure existed, people always have a sense of Urgency. In order to better live and develop, they will encourage themselves to work better to be safe in the competition. Proper competition is just like catalyst, which will best arouse people’s latent capacity.

What is love?

No one can live without love since he was born in the world. However, have you ever think about the question: “What is love?”

Someone says,

Love is “you can only see him/her all over the world”;

Love is “when he is unavailable; you feel everything comeing with his/her silhouette”.

Love is “your soul touches hers/his no matter when and where”.

Love is “be busy for the whole day to prepare dinner for him, and looked at him eating with smile and satisfaction.”

While someone tells me:

When you fall in love with somebody, you are missing him/her in every second, even if you stay together;

When you fall in love with somebody, you can not help laughing for him/her as well as crying for him/her.

When you fall in love with somebody, he is perfect in your eyes, including him disadvantages.

Here are an interesting explanation of “What is love”

Love is starting out with nothing but love.                     Love is speaking her language.

Love is being understanding, not demanding.             Love is giving him another chance.

Love is wanting to look beautiful for him.           Love is dieting with her to make it easier for her.

Love is scratching her back before she falls asleep.     Love is scenting romance is near.

Love is Preserving her handprints in cement.

Love is when your temperature rises, but you feel great…

Travel in China---QianLing Mausoleum

Today, when I looked into the dictionary, I saw an interesting explanation of “Empress”. It is said that the meaning of “Empress” was quite clear in Asian countries, like Japan and China. They have totally different expressions of “female emperor” and “the wife of an emperor”. However, in English, “Empress” has the both meanings of them. In order to distinguish the differences, suffixes were added to this word. Therefore, “empress regnant” meaning a female who crowned to be an emperor; and “empress consort” indicated to the wife of an emperor.

“Female Emperor”, this reminds me of the most famous female in Chinese history. Some of you may know that man is quite superior to woman in ancient China. Basically, it wasn’t possible for women to be an emperor at that period. However, Wu Zetian was such a female aggressive enough to break the rule. She was a very intelligent woman and became quite powerful after she helped her husband--Emperor Gao Zong---govern the court as he was not in good health. When she was almost 60 years old, her husband, Emperor Gao Zongdied. She then dethroned her own sons, and claimed herself the emperor at the age of 66. She changed the Tang Dynasty into the Zhou Dynasty and so became the only female emperor in Chinese history. This extraordinary lady died at the age of 82 and was buried in Qianling Mausoleum with her husband.

This was a famous, unique, and also mysterious mausoleum.

It is famous because it was the only mausoleum in China in which two emperors were buried together.

It is unique because one of these two emperors was the only female emperor in Chinese history.

It is mysterious because, although 1000 years old, this mausoleum had never been robbed or excavated.

Although it was so far that maybe most of you can never visit it yourself, you can still enjoy some unique parts of this place of historical interest with the pictures and my introductionsJ.

The holy way--- This will lead people up to the tomb. There are stone statues lining both sides of the holy way---a pair of cloud pillars, a pair of flying horses, a pair of ostriches, ten pairs of guarding generals with helmets and swords, and a pair of stone lions. They were built to protect the emperor’s tomb.

Two stone tablets---The one on the west side is the seven-joint tablet. It was built in memory of Emperor Gao Zong. He was the third emperor of the Tang Dynasty and was entitled Gao Zong. He ruled the Tang Dynasty for 34 years. However, because of his poor health, the power gradually fell into Wu Zetian’s hands.

There were 8000 words on the tablet to praise the great achievements of Emperor Gao Zong. And it was built by seven parts: the top part symbolized the sun and the bottom part symbolized the moon. The middle five parts symbolized five elements because the ancient Chinese believed that the universe was made of the five elements: metal, wood, water, earth and fire. The seven parts together symbolized that the great achievements of Emperor Gao Zong would last forever in this universe.

On the east, there’s another stone tablet without any words. This wordless tablet was built for the Emperor Wu Zetian (the famous lady I have introduced before). It was interesting that she set up a tablet praising her husband but a wordless tablet for herself. Some one said that she wanted people of later generations to give her a judge and fair appraisal. Others said it was because she was the first female emperor and she thought her accomplishments were immeasurable and beyond words. And also some one said this tablet was built by his son, and he didn’t know how to comment his mother. So it kept wordless. No one knows which is the correct reason, and how do you think about this?

Beyond the two tablets there are 61 stone sculptures standing in two groups. According to the historical record, after the Tang Emperor Gao Zong died, empress WuZetian invited more than 61 official leaders from the ethnic groups and other countries to take part in Gao Zong’s funeral. And these stone sculptures were made in order to commemorate this event. Originally, on the back of each sculpture, they were carved with its nationality, official position and name. Unfortunately, after many years, most of them have disappeared, but the nationalities of the officers can still be discerned from their uniforms.

Besides the Qian Ling mausoleum, there are also 17 satellite tombs, e.g.: the tomb of Princess Yong Tai. She was a grand daughter of Empress Wu Zetian. According to the unwritten story, after Wu Zetian claimed herself the Emperor, she had many kept men. But this young lady, Princess Yong Tai, had criticized about this. So she was bitten to death by her grandma at the age of 17. The archaeologists discovered many frescos in these satellite tombs which have vividly reflect the social life at that time.

The QianLing Mausoleum was on the top of LiangShan Mountain, about 80 kilometers northwest of the Xi’an City (the capital of Shaan’xi province) which was the capital of 13 Dynasties in ancient China; So many emperors’ mausoleums were found here. If you are interested in Chinese history, this will be a good place for travel~ Any other place worth traveling around you? Welcome to share with us~J

Learn to cherish

We always focus on what we have lost instead of what we possess. We often feel depressed because we finally found the things were so wonderful after we lost them; unfortunately, we seldom realized how precious they were when we previously had them.

When suffering diseases, we realize the value of health;

When experiencing hunger, we think of the food we have wasted;

When death hanging over our heads, we finally begin to understand that being alive is the greatest happiness.

Don’t complain about earning less than others, at least you can earn a living for yourself. You should remember lots of people are unemployed and are worried about their next meal everyday.

Don’t complain that life is boring; at least you are still alive and healthy. You should remember lots of people are suffering wars, hungers ,diseases or even facing death at this very moment;

Don’t complain that your parents are so preachy, at least you still have them, and you can stay with them whenever you want. You should remember lots of people are crying for losing their family at the same time.

Now, have you realized how wealthy we are?

In China, we have an old saying: “Tree prefers calm while wind not subsides; Son chooses filial while parents died.” This is to tell us that our parents are getting older and older before we realized, remember to always treat them well so as to avoid regret after they pass away. We should learn to cherish; cherish people around us and cherish things we are experiencing at this moment. As for the lost things, just let them elapse and forget them with time pass by.

We are always hurried to pursue our ideals; when finally looked back at the destination, we just found we have missed so many wonderful sceneries. We may as well slow down our steps; enjoy the niceness on the way while keeping advanced.

What we can catch would be our happiness, but what we missed would become our pities. Always remember to cherish what you possess now so as to avoid more regrets when you finally awaken…

Say Hi to You all---A brief introduction about me

Recently, the most important thing for me is to be an egg staff and join this great community. This is really a great place for learning and relaxingJ. I have learnt a lot from you guys in the past two months. But, I am still a newbie in this world, so, I will try my best to learn as much as I could from you guys. You can find me any where in the near further, like ‘introduction’, ‘shopping experience’, ‘product support’ and etc. I hope to see you guys around.

I’m a Chinese girl and living in Xi’an now. I really enjoy the life here, as people are quite friendly and honest in this city. This is a great city which syncretized both historical sites and modern civilizations. In Xi’an city, you can find many places of historical interests of different dynasties, such as the tarry cotta warriors and horses of 2000 years ago, the big wild goose pagoda of 1000 years ago, the bell and Drum Tower of 700 years ago…

One of the landmarks building in Xi’an city is the City Wall, the most complete and the best-preserved city wall in China. The City wall of Xi’an is an extension of the prior Tang Dynasty structure, and it was originally built in the Ming dynasty, about 700 years ago by the order of the first emperor. The City Wall of Xi’an, after its extension in the Ming Dynasty, has a rectangular-shaped construction. Its total length is 13.7 kilometers, and stands 12 meters high. There are four main gates of the City Wall- one on each side—named the east gate, west gate, south gate, and the north gate. The four gates of the City Wall were the only way to go into and out of town. In Xi’an, each of the four gates consists of three gate towers. They have different functions according to their locations: the one located on the top of the main part of the City Wall is the inner one and is also the main entrance to the city; the one located outside the City Wall is used to lift and lower the suspension bridge; and the one in the middle is the arrow tower which has square windows in the front and on the two sides to shoot arrows.

Nowadays, there is still a complete moat around the City Wall. A circular park has been built along the City Wall and it becomes one of the most popular places for the local people to spend their leisure time, especially to do their morning exercises.

Although surrounded by this ancient building, Xi’an has also got a fast-speed development in recent years. With abundant resources, the tourist industry plays an important role in economic development of this city, and in the year of 2011, the Weltausstellung f.der Gartenbaukunst (世界园艺博览会) will be held in Xi’an.

After the very brief introduction, how do you think about this city? Well, if you want to have a visit, I will always be here to welcome you ~

Once again, I’m really happy to know you guys here, sincerely. Best wishes to you all. Any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am always ready to help.
