Community Uber and active user CheapAsianGamerGuy presents the following new forum idea:

“ 'CAGG Labs'…whose purpose would be to post work logs and pics/screenshots of projects done by EggXpert.com users. A sort of end-to-end how to, from build requests to order to finished product(s) and even OC/tuning. A forum for people to post their works in progress and share their build process and philosophies with the rest of the community. I'd start out by being a contributor along with a few other users who want to fulfill different roles (part/build recommendations, etc).

I'd like to keep the focus on posting projects and (recommended) build specs.

CAGG Labs Concept:

Visible to all.

Two Stickied Threads to start:

Rules - Ground rules TBD, but pics and any form (however rough) of work log are mandatory - Thread Locked?
Proposals/Pitches - Open thread for System Build Specs, build proposals, Project pitches, and discussion of projects. (This is where we separate the people who just talk about building from people who really want to do a build)

Workflow:

Once a Project is "greenlit" through discussion in the Proposals thread, a thread is created for the user who can choose to make it himself only, himself and mods, or any-user postable. Once a project is complete, user has option to lock the thread.

Example:

Proposals Thread -

Root: I wanna build a server!

(Specs are traded for a few posts)

Root: I bought the parts!

Me: Wanna project thread?

Root: Heck yeah!

Project: Rootserver Thread -

Root: Hey everyone, I'm building a new server! I just ordered the parts! (Partslist)

(User continues to post as project continues to completion)”

We may even give the best project presentation a spot on the monthly newsletter and the winner a coveted prize. Any opinions, brainstorming and feedback are welcome as we try and figure out if this can be done and if it has enough widespread interest to be worth pursuing. What do you guys think?
