Depending on its system specs...

1. A Media Center/DVR/HTPC (Home Theater PC) buy throwing in a TV Tuner and installing some software, whether it be Microsoft's Media Center or the many good aftermarket products like Snapstreams BeyondTV or others.

2. A File/FTP/HTTP server. Throw in some big drives and store your data on it or use it as data backup. Host a File server to access files from anywhere or even host a site.

3. Sell it for a few bucks... wont get much for even a few year old pc.

4. Hook up someone who doesn't have a pc... old pc > no pc.

I donated a

P4 1.8GHz

1GB memory (400)

80GB HDD

DVD burner

Win Xp

to a friend that was getting it ready for a US soldier who suffered a serious mental injury.  The computers task was to play endless slideshows of the soldiers kids which he couldnt remember.

Originally a POS pentium 1 machine was gonna do the task, but I was like, aint happening on that, so I hooked him up with my old machine.

It felt good to do that and get it out of my closet.
